"You know he would have looked for me, there is no doubt about it, Robin. He thinks I am in a village, but I have not told him where."
His next words she did not expect. Was he...telling her to go? Stepping away, she looked at him, hurt all over her face.
"Do you want me to go?" she asked quietly.

"You are not listening, Marian! He would have no reason to think you were in a village if you had not written to him. For all he knew you could have been in France. Now he knows you are close by."
He dropped his hands to his sides, frustrated by her words, insulted by the insinuation.
"Of course I do not want you to leave. Do you honestly think I would propose to you then ask you to run off back to the castle?" He kept his tone light.

Marian could see his point, but of course she was not going to tell him that. She just hoped Guy would respect what she said and leave her until she told him otherwise. Which she never would.
She smiled a little when his tone lightened, glad that he had let some humour into the conversation.
"No. I thought you would propose then never let me go."

Robin decided to take the opportunity when she joined him in changing the subject.
"That's what you thought, is it?" He took a step closer, pulling her into his arms, wrapping his arms around her. "There. I have you. Now I shall never let go."
He glanced up, over her head, praying that whatever fate chose to throw at them next, it would not come in the form of Gisborne seeking her out.

Marian smiled when his arms went around her, instantly wrapping her own arms around him. This was much better, having his arms holding onto her safely, promising to never let her go.
"Good. I do not want you to."
