Marian had woken to find the camp empty, and she instantly wondered why the had not woken her before leaving. Sighing, she took the chance to freshen up, before grabbing the bow and quiver full of arrows she always kept close by.
She began to walk, and was positive she could hear footsteps near by. Walking far more quietly, she pulled out an arrow, ready to fire if she had to. However, when she reached the source of the noise, she pointed the bow to the forest floor.
"Robin, you scared me."

Robin looked up from his pacing, startled out of his thoughts by the sudden appearance of Marian. He had sent the rest of the gang away early to deal with drop offs, needing time alone to think, and more importantly, time alone with Marian.
Before she might see it, Robin wrapped his fingers tightly around the thin silver ring in his hand, the small blue stone pressing against his skin. He ceased his pacing. This was just perfect. Here she was and he still had no better idea of what he was going to say.
He managed a nervous laugh when she said he had scared her. "Sorry."

Marian noticed him slightly on edge, and was instantly worried. The gang was no where to be seen, and Robin was worried. Stepping closer, she frowned, trying to see if she could guess what had happened. It obviously was not something life threatening, otherwise Robin would definitely not be here.
"What's wrong? Where is everyone?"

"Everything is fine, Marian," he was quick to assure her, not having meant for her to worry. "The lads have just gone to the villages without me. I have some things I have to take care of here, today. That's all."
He looked up at her, before nervously glancing away again. He was already a wreck. This was not going to go well.

So he had things to do? Nodding she took a step back, brushing her hair back behind her ear. He had seemed anxious, perhaps he did not want her company.
"I will leave you, then. If you are busy you wil not want me here, distracting you."

"No!" Robin looked up sharply, then realised how his hastily spoken word would sound. "I mean...don't go, Marian. I'd like for you to stay."
Internally, Robin was kicking himself. She was no fool, and he was making it more than obvious that something was going on. He smiled, moving to sit at the edge of the small rock face that he was near, letting his feet dangle over the edge. He held out his hand in her direction. "Come and sit with me."

Marian jumped a little when he shouted that he did not want her to go. Frowning when he asked her to sit with him, she walked over taking his hand in her own.
"Are you sure nothing is wrong Robin?"

Robin squeezed her hand, even as his other hand wrapped more tightly around the ring.
"Yes. No. Um..." He laughed, looking away. "It's fine Marian I'm just...I need to ask...talk to you. I need to talk to you about something." Robin swallowed, anxiously. Any second now he was going to start sweating, panic, and run away. He could tell.

That did not sound good. He had to talk to her, when the gang was away. What if he was going to tell her to go? That the gang did not like her being there. Taking a deep breath, she looked away from him, not wanting to see her worry.
"Oh. Then talk."
If it was going to be anything like that, she wanted it over fast.

Robin released her hand, reaching up and putting his hand to her cheek, turning her back to face him.
"Nothing quite so serious as you seem to be imagining, my love. I wanted the others gone because this is about us. Just you and me. I did not want them here, interrupting."

When he brought her face around to look make her look at him, she tried hard not to resist. His words began to soothe her for a moment, and they he said something that just got her nervous. This was about them? Something he did not want interrupted.
"Right."
Oh please let it be what she thought it was.

He took her hand again, forcing himself to make eye contact. It was hard, but he knew he owed it to her to do this properly, regardless of every instinct screaming at him to make light of the situation with a joke.
"Marian. I know that..." He stopped, gathering his thoughts, needing to get this right. "I know that I don't have much to offer you. I no longer have wealth, or security, or even a home," he laughed, quietly. "And yet, you know that if I could, I would give you the world." He searched her face, needing the confirmation in her eyes before continuing, needing to know she knew he would do anything for her.
He brought his other hand closer, resting it in his lap, glancing down briefly before again meeting her eyes. "However, I fear, all that I have to offer you at the moment is my love. And so," he took a deep breath, releasing it shakily, "this is this silly outlaw's hopeless attempt at asking for the beautiful Lady of Knighton's hand in marriage." He pulled her hand closer as he spoke, turning it up and gently placing the delicate ring in her palm.

For a moment, Marian could not breathe. She simply watched him, taking in every word he said and responding with a nod if she felt he needed it. Then he was taking her hand, and she suddenly felt him place something in her palm. Looking down at it, she saw a delicate ring, something small but perfect for her. Biting her lip, she looked up at him.
"Robin there is no one else I would rather be with. I will give you everything I can, I love you so much." she started to laugh a little, handing him the ring back. "Are you not meant to put it on for me?"

Robin smiled softly, taking the ring, and laughing quietly in return. "Well, I didn't want to be too presumptuous, Marian. I know how you hate that."
He took her hand, slowly sliding the ring onto her finger. He almost scowled at it, looking up at her. "I know it isn't much, but..."
He stroked his thumb across the smooth skin of her hand, a giddy smile growing on his face.

Marian grinned brightly as he slipped the ring on her finger, enjoying the feeling far too much. Looking up at him, she noted the schowl, which was soon explained.
"Robin, it is more than enough. It is from you."
She found her grin getting bigger as he brushed his thumb against her hand. She always liked that feeling.
