"You might not need it but you deserve it. And I needed to do it. It is the only regular thing I could do for you, and you needed something normal amongst all of this."
He looked at her somewhat bashfully. "Maybe I want people to know you are mine," he said, cheekily.

Marian smiled a little at his explanation, looking down at the ring. He wanted something normal for them, that she understood. Looking up at him, she ran her hand through his hair then round to cup his cheek.
"I have always been yours. And if know one knows that by now they are fools."

He brought a hand up, covering the smaller one against his cheek. He wondered how much longer they could go on like this, whether time would be stolen from them by their circumstances.
"Gisborne doesn't know it," he muttered without thinking about it, in response to her words.

Marian sighed when he brought up Guy, noting the ratherannoyed way he had said it.
"Which is good. If he knew we risk both our necks."
She had not told him about the letters that she had exhanged with him, where she risked being caught everytime she had went to collect them. She had not wrote to him in weeks, and it had been far too quiet. She knew he was planning something, felt it deep down.

Sighing in frustration at the familiar words, Robin stepped back. "Marian, we risk our lives every day, or at least I do. I know it is not logical, I just wish he knew there was a reason for him to not sniff around you like a hungry wolf."
There had been nothing from the man, besides the strange, barely avoided encounter by the river that day, and it made Robin anxious. "It makes no sense. I would have by now expected him to..."
Robin looked accusingly at Marian. "You've seen him, haven't you? You've spoken to him."

Marian winced a little when he accused her of seeing him. It wasn't true, in a way, but she knew he would not like the answer she was going to give.
"I may have left him a few letters, just to tell him I was safe and not to come find me."
In her eyes it was a good thing, but something told her hewould think differently.

"You sent him letters?!"
Robin made a meaningless, frustrated gesture with his hands, walking away a few paces before turning back to face her. "Well, that's just great, isn't it? I propose to a woman only to find out not a moment later that she's been sending...love letters to another man. Marian, what were you thinking?!"

"Do not be so ridiculous they were far from love letters! i just told him I was safe and I did not want him to come find me. He agreed not to search for me if I kept sending letters to let him know I was alright."
Sighing, she kept her eyes on him, knowing that he would not see this as a good reason to send him letters.
"Robin I am doing what I can to make sure Guy does not look for me and ends up at your camp."

"You would not need to keep writing him letters if you had not done it in the first place! I can not believe you did that. And the fact that you kept it from me, well," he laughed, an irritated sound.
"Is that how this is going to be? I must share everything with you, or you get angry at me, but you do not have to share things with me? How very noble of you, Marian."
He scoffed. "He would have no reason to be able to even come close to finding the camp if you had just kept quiet!"

"I knew you would act like this! For goodness sake, Robin will you grow up! They are just letters I have no interest in him at all. You continually ask if I trust you but judging by your reaction it is you that does not trust me."
She sighed, crossing her arms over her chest. She knew that if Guy had not heard from her he would be searching the entire forest and the surrounding villages for her. She saw this as the right thing to do.

Robin mirrored her pose, crossing his own arms, clenching his jaw. "You're right, I should place more trust in you when you write letters to a man who would force you to marry him, and do not tell me! Be realistic, Marian. You are not being fair."
He shook his head at her, frowning. "I had thought you were happy, Marian. A foolish notion on my part." He stepped towards her, but continued forwards, moving past her, beginning to walk away.

"Neither are you!"
She frowned at his words, reaching out to grab him as he tried to walk away. Pulling him to her, she cupped each side of his face.
"I am happy. I have you, and we are starting that life we wanted. I was trying to protect you and yes I should have told you, but I knew you would disagree. I love you Robin. You. And no one else is ever going to take me away from you."

He took her wrists, pulling her hands off his face. She didn't get to think she could make everything okay just by putting her hands on him.
"If you love me, why do you think you need to inform him where you are, as if he is owed some explanation? I don't understand you sometimes, Marian. You can be ridiculously hypocritical when you want to be."

She followed her hands as he moved them from his face, then kept her eyes down as he spoke. He still had that ability of making her feel like she was a child who needed to be scolded at times. Drawing her eyes up to him she was desperate for him to understand.
"I told him I was staying with my father somewhere safe. I told him I did not want him to come find me, and he said that he would do whatever he could to find me if I did not write to him. Robin he would have searched the entire forest for me, you know his feelings for me as much as they are onesided. But Robin you are the one I want to be with. It has always been you."

"Why did you tell him anything at all? If you hadn't, he never would have made the decision that he needed to search the whole forest, which by the way he would never be able to do, and mores the point, he'd never be able to find us even if he tried."
He looked at her with an expression somewhere between hurt, anger and confusion. "Why don't you just go back to the castle, if staying here is such an inconvenience to him? I'm sure you don't like the thought of upsetting him."
