The closer Guy got to the river, the better he felt. The air was cooler here in the shade of the trees and the quiet trickling of the river was like music to his ears after the monotonous thumping of the horses' hooves. He let himself drop to his knees at the river bank and reached into the cool water to splash his face. It was immediately refreshing and helped clear his mind. Despite the long ride in front of him, the sooner he did it, the sooner he'd be back. Sighing, he shook his head, shaking away the droplets of river water, and stood back up as his men began filling containers with water.
For a second he was sure he heard something move in the bushes nearby and he was just about to go and look when he noticed something sparkling in the dappled sunlight nearby. Frowning, he stooped to pick up the necklace. He was sure he recognised it, but he couldn't quite place it. Perhaps on one of the women at the castle?
At that moment a shout went up from one of his men back at the horses and Guy's head snapped up again. Beckoning to the men holding the water, he began to make his way through the trees towards the road, pushing the necklace into a pouch hanging from his belt.

Robin watched Gisborne drop to his knees by the river, his hand wrapping around the hilt of his sword as his jaw clenched. Every time he saw this man he felt his temper flare. And somehow, seeing him in the forest made it worse, as if he was invading another place that belonged to him. He would have confronted the man, but Marian's presence at his side stopped him. He would not have Gisborne learn of her presence here.
When Gisborne looked towards the bushes where they were crouched, Robin held his breath, waiting. That is, until he saw his attention stolen by something else. He cursed under his breath when he realised what it was.
"Marian," he whispered angrily, "How could you just leave your necklace?" He never had been much good at censoring his words. He wasn't actually mad at Marian, but the whole situation could not have ended any more badly for him.

Marian glanced at him when his head dropped to her shoulder, biting her lip gently. She wished she could answer his question with a teasing agreement, but she was far too focused on what was going on in front of her.
"Robin, now is not the time," she whispered back to him.
She took a deep breath when Guy began to look towards where they were, instantly crouching more behind the bushes just in case. When she saw him going for the necklace, she instantly brought her hand to her neck, only feeling the string for the wooden tag Robin had given her. Perhaps he would not realise it was hers? However she very much doubted that he would think any less.
"It is not as if it was on purpose. I was a little preoccupied, I did not realise that it had fallen off," she whispered, annoyed at his allegation. After all, it was because of his insistent kisses and his wandering hands that her mind was not exactly fully on her jewelry.

Robin groaned, rolling his eyes. He couldn't help it, she had had something of an affect on him. "I fear it will never be the time, Marian."
Leaning forward to watch Guy as he strode away, Robin looked back at Marian questioningly. "What do you think he's doing here?"
The whole thing was just maddening. Would nothing ever be simple for him where Marian was concerned? They had been alone for hours, and just when things were going his way, their time together was interrupted, as ever.

"With that attitude there will never be a time," she whispered, a slight hint of teasing in her voice.
Marian followed Guy as he walked, checking for any signs or hints. Leaning forward, her dress slipping down her shoulder, she frowned. She was sure she saw movement, then when she heard Guy being shouted on it became obvious.
"He has many men with him, they must be moving something important."
At her words, she glanced at Robin, not caring that every move she made her sleeve slipped further down her shoulder.
"Robin do not get any ideas."

Marian's words came too late. As soon as her dress had slipped down, Robin's attention was focussed back on the bare skin. Reaching out a hand to touch her shoulder, he smiled. He simply could not get enough of her, it was like an addiction.
"Ideas about what, my love? Oh don't worry...I have no intention of fighting Gisborne today." He knew that was not what she meant, but that fact worried him little. Moving his hand, Robin replaced it with his mouth as his fingers toyed with the sleeve, attempting to pull it further down.

"I did not mean that..."
She closed her eyes for a moment when his lips touched her sleeve, but tried not to react too much. Opening her eyes, she shifted slightly to try and see if she could see what was so important that Guy needed so many men. She was sure she could hear some form of carriage, but what was within it?

"Marian..."
Robin looked skyward in exasperation and amusement. He let his hand slide from her shoulder to her lower back as she leaned forward.
"Much as I admire your dedication, do we really have to trouble ourselves with Gisborne and his scheming, right this very second?"

Marian turned to look at him over her shoulder, but found that she could not for too long. After all, she could see the desperation in his face.
"Priorities, Robin."
She knew that he still would insist though, despite her words.

Robin leaned forward from where he was crouched behind her, kissing the back of her neck as his other hand slid up into her hair.
"My priorities are all perfectly in order at the moment, I'll have you know."
He slid the hand that was against her back to wrap around her stomach, pulling her backward gently, wanting nothing more than for her to give in.

Marian sighed as he pulled her closer, his lips staying on the back of her neck. She had a feeling it would take a while, and Guy had long gone now.
"Robin, we have lost him now. There would have been a chance of us getting whatever it is he was guarding. It had to be important if the sheriff set Guy to guard it."

Robin laughed, smirking against her neck where he continued to kiss her, slowly trailing down her back.
"Hmm...no. Not nearly as important as you, Marian. I'm sure Gisborne won't mind waiting."
He wondered how long he could keep this up, how long it would be before she put a more definite stop to it. She could hardly blame him, he thought. No man would possess the kind of will power to resist her, especially considering her earlier actions.

She rolled her eyes as his kisses lowered down her back, his arm firmly around her. She had a feeling it would take her a lot to manage to make him stop.
"You have a one tracked mind, Robin of Locksley."
She somehow knew that he would keep going until she said no, but just now it was mostly harmless. Her courage had left her and she had no doubt that if he moved things on as far as they had earlier, she would stop him.

Robin grinned, delighted and completely unrepentant. He loved it when she used his name like that.
"Alas, the lady has found me out." He pulled her closer, his mouth moving to the side of her neck, as his other hand trailed down past her stomach to rest on her leg, where hip met thigh. His thumb ran over the spot repeatedly, sliding across the material of her dress that he wished wasn't there.

"If only I found you out years ago, I would have avoided you at all cost."
When his hand ran down to her thigh, his finger softly stroking. Closing her eyes, taking a deep breath, she tried hard not to be affected by his actions.
"Robin..."
