Marian sighed, looking away from him. She was getting carried away, forgetting what she was taught as a child. But she had always asked did it not matter if you loved the person, and was always brushed aside, those who taught her not wanting to deal with such questions. Looking back at him, she bit her lip.
"I have always been taught it was wrong. But it feels right. I do not know what to think anymore, do I go with my mind or my heart."
It was true, she had never felt so confused in her life. Up until this point, she always knew it was wrong and that she would wait until marriage. But this was dangerous times they were living in, what if they never made it to a wedding?

Robin grinned, winking. "Well, I have always been one to believe in going with your heart."
Placing a hand against the side of her face, Robin stroked his thumb across her cheek, smiling gently at her. "You know I don't mind, Marian, whatever you choose. Though I do not think I could stand these games we seem to be playing, anymore. It may just be the death of me."

"Well I do not think I wish you dead," Marian teased.
She kept her mind spinning, her thoughts endlessly running in her head. She loved Robin, more than anything. They would be married one day, and well she did not need marriage to know they belonged together. Standing up, the water falling from her, she reached a hand out for him.
"Perhaps water is not the best place for this," she said suggestively, hoping he realised what her decision was.

Robin took her hand automatically, not actually realising what she had said at first. Once they were standing in the water facing each other, the implication of her words sank in.
"Marian, are you sure this is what you want? I did not mean for you to think that I was forcing you to make a decision."
He was very much aware now, since his hands had been there just moments before, of the way her dress was clinging to her body like a second skin. The sight was captivating. It also reminded him of the fact that she was right, and he hardly wanted to share a moment like this with her in the middle of a stream.

"You are not forcing me to make any decision. These are dangerous times Robin, and I will never forgive myself if I let childhood fears get in the way of what we both want. We may not be married but i know that there is no one else I want to be with."
She saw his eyes draw down her body and it was only now she realised that the dress must be clinging tightly to her. Brushing her wet hair back, she looked at him with an embarrassed smile.
"Unless it is not what you want."

"What a ridiculous thing to say, Marian. I've no doubt you know perfectly well what I want." He grinned wolfishly, leading her to the water's edge by her hand.
He was very much aware of how nervous she must be, and so made the decision that he would let her make the next move. Whatever that might be.

Marian was starting to feel sick, the fact that she was about to go through with it only just starting to come to her mind. She had to do something before she lost her nerve.
Slowly, she reached up, both her hands tangling in his hair. Pulling him down, she kissed him with more passion than she even thought possible, her body pressing fully against him. She just hoped he reacted well to this new found passion in her.

Robin brought his hands up to hold her face, returning the kiss with equal vigour. Pulling back, he took her hands, leading her further from the waters edge to the base of a large tree. He gently coaxed her to lay back on the soft ground, laying above her. Holding himself up with one arm, he brushed the hair back from her face before moving to kiss her again.

She ran her hand down his back, letting it rest gently there as she kissed him, loosing herself within him. It did not matter what her mind was saying, the warning signs it was putting up, she wanted to be with him. She wanted to be his completely, and she loved him. That was all that mattered. Pulling back, she took a few deep breaths, looking up at him.
"I hope I am what you need," she said quietly, nerves obvious in her voice.

Robin smiled gently, looking down at her. He could see how scared she was, and wanted nothing more than to calm her nerves.
"You do not need to be anything, Marian. Just you. That is all I have ever wanted."
Realising he would not be able to get to the back of her dress easily the way they were lying, which was only going to slow proceedings, Robin brought his hands down to her sides. He moved from above her to rest on his back, pulling her with him so that she ended up above him, reversing their positions. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as his lips found hers again.

Marian found it strange, her neck having to be bent to return his kisses but after a moment she got used to it. She found her knees automatically lay at each side of his legs, her body molding against him. She found her breath coming in short little pants as she felt his hands move to the back of her dress, loosening many of the fastenings. Pulling back, she looked down at him, her hand going to the ties on his trousers.
Suddenly, her hands stilled. She could hear voices, in the distance, and it certainly was not a member of the gang. Sitting up, her dress slipped slightly, no longer held together tightly, her hand staying on the ties.
"Robin, can you hear that?"

Post by Sir Guy of Gisborne on Jul 23, 2009 17:54:35 GMT 1
Guy's head was pounding, the aching getting worse with every inch they traveled. They were only moving at a canter, however, the motion and constant drumming of the horses' hooves was almost more than he could bear. He knew he shouldn't have drunk so much of the Sheriff's fine wine at dinner last night, but since Marian had left the castle, drinking was the only relief he got. He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. Behind him, the carriage trundled along, its contents of tax money and grain bumping around inside. It was well protected this time. The Sheriff had had enough of his money being stolen or tampered with en route, so he'd ordered Guy and twenty men to escort it to Leicester where the Duke of Buckingham's men would meet it. Still, it was a long ride and the sun was beating down almost unbearably.
Glancing back at his men, Guy made his decision quickly, spurred on by the pounding in his skull. "We need water," he called, pointing off into the forest to the right where he knew the little river babbled along to where it would join the Trent a few miles further on. "I want five men with me with carriers and fifteen to stay here and guard the carriage." Pulling his great black horse to a halt, he slid from the saddle.
Inside his leather outfit, he was sweltering. The hot sun on the black leather was making it hard for him to breath. He pulled his gloves off, laying them across the saddle of his horse and unstrapped his leather doublet, letting the front of his loose black shirt hang free. It felt good to get the air on his skin again and he took a deep breath of the fresh forest air before heading off into the trees with his men.

Robin's thoughts were on anything but listening to their surroundings when Marian spoke. Still, he could hear the worry in her voice.
Lifting his head from the ground, Robin waited, listening for whatever it was she had heard. When he heard the unmistakable sound of horses, Robin sat up slightly higher, leaning back on an arm, the other sliding from Marian's back to hold her arm.
Then, from a distance he heard someone speak, and in a sudden and unwelcome moment of clarity, he realised who it was. Letting his head drop back to the earth with a dull thud, Robin groaned, rubbing a hand over his face.
"Of all the moments he could possibly have chosen, why did it have to be now?"

Marian groaned when she heard the voice, her hands reaching up to fasten a few of the fasteners at the back of her dress, making sure it would not slip if she stood. Standing up, she moved to pick up Robin's abandoned shirt from earlier, before grabbing his hand and pulling him up.
"We need to hide, Robin."
She quickly pulled him behind the large trees, knowing that they would be well hidden if they crouched down. However, in her rush, she did not realise a necklace her father had given her when was younger had fallen off, a sign that would clearly point to her presence there.

Robin grabbed his bow, quiver and sword from where they were lying carelessly by the river before Marian pulled him into their temporary hiding place.
"Marian..." He leaned his head forward to rest against her shoulder where they were crouched, her name sounding more like a petulant whine than an actual word. "Please tell me we can pick up where we left off, after he is gone."
