"He thought you had compromised my virtue," she said with a light laugh, squeezing his hand.
It was true, they had to spend a rather long amount of time persuading him they had simply fell asleep. Her father had been less inclined to believe them, thinking that Robin was wanting that one fling before he left.
"Oh he was angry for some time, tried to comfort me and distract me from such thoughts. But he knew I could never stop thinking of you, no matter how hard he tried."

"Oh, I know. I recieved many lectures on the subject from both our Father's regarding a lady's virtue and why I must respect it, after that night."
Robin looked at her, confused. "Distract you from what? My leaving? I would have thought you would have done your best to forget me without much help, after I left you the way I did."

"I recieved a rather stern look and told I would be chaperoned whenever I went to visit you. He never really had me chaperoned, but the threat was there."
Sighing, Marian looked away for a moment. How did she admit to all those things that had happened when he had left?
"My father tried to help me move on, provided a line of suitors. But...not once could I stop measuring them up to you. I could not stop thinking that they were not you."

Robin looked curiously down at her. "Exactly how many men did he parade before you that you refused?"
He turned so he was facing her, suddenly filled with an inexplicable need to share something, anything, with her. He felt so close to her, sharing this moment in the quiet of the early morning.
"When we first got there, Much kept asking me why I left you, telling me I was crazy. I told him at the time that it was for King and Country, or some other such nonsense. I know now it was fear that made me leave, Marian. I was a coward. I am so glad I am not still paying for that cowardice."

"A fair few," she said with a shrug. She had not exactly counted them.
Marian looked up at him when his whole body faced her, realising that it was a moment where he needed to look into her eyes. He never spoke of things like this and she was going to cling onto it whilst she could. This closeness they had was never used to its full ability, a proper talk of things they had never said.
"Fear of what?"

"Fear of..." Robin struggled to find the right words. He lifted her hand absently, weaving his fingers through hers. When he spoke, it was quiet, almost a whisper.
"Fear of you, fear of my life. I was afraid of facing it, Marian. I was afraid of facing everything, from my Father's death, to what that meant for me. I did not think I was ready to face any of it. I thought if I left for a while, I might find the answers I needed. I did not realise I would be gone so long."

"And you still would have been out there had you not been injured," she said quietly, something that had been on her mind for a while.
Sighing, she squeezed his hand, pushing her thoughts aside. That was all in the past, a moment of hurt surrounded by for more moments of joy.
"You do not need to dwell on it anymore. The life you want is the life we will have."

Robin's hand went absently to his side as he spoke. "A worthwhile sacrifice, I would say, given that it brought me back to you sooner."
He tilted his head, considering her as she squeezed his hand, speaking of their future.
"When exactly was it that you got so wise, Marian?"

"Although do not injure yourself again just to see me," she teased with a light laugh.
At his next words she could not help the grin. The way he was looking at her warmed her up inside, plus the obvious answer in her head meant she could not prevent the smile.
"I always have been. You have just never payed enough attention to what I say to notice."

"Well, I'm certainly not going to try, Marian." He said with a laugh, "Though it is not always easy. I seem to rather attract trouble. It is quite tiresome." He gave a put upon sigh.
Robin grinned cheekily. "I'm sorry, you've always just made ignoring you so easy is all," he teased her.

"You look for trouble Robin, you always have," she said with a small grin.
At his next words, she rose her eyebrow. She made it easy for him to ignore her? Well, she would just put that to the test.
"Easy to ignore, am I? Then you shall be able to ignore this."
Slowly, she pulled his head down, letting her lips touch his briefly before she ran her fingers to the nape of his neck, deepening the kiss a little.

"Okay, I do. But only sometimes."
He made a noise of surprise as she kissed him, unable to speak, pulled into the kiss as he was. His hands came up to grasp her face, as he stepped closer to her. He lost himself in it, loving the feeling of her hands at the base of his neck. It had always been his weakness.
When they broke apart, he looked down at her with a grin. "That, I most certainly could not ignore. And I don't think I want to, to be perfectly honest."

Marian could not help but smile when he gave in so easily. Well now she certainly knew how to win an argument, she had a very good weapon on her at all times. She grinned up at him when they pulled apart, her hands staying at the back of his neck.
"And I thought I was so easily ignored."

Not for the first time, Robin was reminded of how gorgeous she was when she was convinced she was right, that she had beaten him.
"I am an outlaw, Marian. It is common knowledge that we lie. From time to time."
He pulled her closer, kissing her again. "If you keep that up, though, I promise to never ignore you again."

"Oh now I do not know if I can trust anything you say," she teased him.
Her nails scraped lightly against his skin when he kissed her again, stepping as close as she could. She loved being close to him, the safe and warm feeling it gave her filled her whole body.
"I shall keep that in mind."
