"Because I know now for sure what it is that you want, and what you don't want. And whilst what you don't want is something I very much do want...I know we can not go there."
Robin laughed at his own words. "That is a lot of wants."
He looked surprised by her words. "I won't admit it to myself? I don't think I quite follow you, Marian."

She couldn't help but laugh at what he said, confused for a moment. Taking a moment to work it out in her head, she nodded.
"It is a lot of wants. And it is also true."
She hated admitting things like that, but she could not help herself. Especially whenn it came to a game almost, when they were teasing one another.
"I did not mean it like that. I was teasing, Robin," she said, running her hand down his arm, trying to slip her hand in to take his.

"Well, I am glad I have worked something out correctly where you are concerned, Marian."
Robin uncrossed his arms, automatically allowing her to take his hand, even as he looked slightly off put by her words. "That did not sound like you were teasing, Marian. It sounds like you think I have a big ego, that I am arrogant and won't acknowledge it." He wrapped his fingers around hers. "It's a good thing I like you, you know?"
Saying the words, he knew it was true. He was arrogant, and showy, and constantly seeking approval and admiration. Still, he wasn't about to go around admitting things like that. Teasing from Marian or not.

"Always a first for everything," she said with a grin.
Marian kept her fingers tightly entwined with his, keeping her eyes on him. Maybe she had sounded serious, but she didn't mean to be. Then again, his words were true. There were moments when she found him arrogant, but those times when he wasn't out shone those moments.
"You are lucky I like you too," she said with a small smile.

"Do not worry, I will try my best not to let it go to my head."
He rubbed his thumb across the skin of her hand, grinning cheekily. "Oh I am, am I? Would I have to fear the wrath of the lady if she did not carry me in her favour?"

Marian bit her lip as he stroked his thumb across her skin. It sent shivers through her, a feeling she certainly was used to around him. Looking down at their hands wrapped around each other, she slowly looked up at him, not resisting the teasing smile on her face.
"You certainly would."

Robin continued to stroke his thumb across her skin, marvelling at the softness. You would not think she had come to live in the forest. He did not know how she did it but somehow she managed to still look untouched by her surroundings.
"Oh yes? And what might the wrath of the lady be? I would know, so that I can be better prepared for it when it comes."

The more he stroked her hand, the more her stomach done flips. The gentle touch was lighting her skin on fire, and she wanted to burn. She did not want him to stop at all.
"I do not think I should tell you. After all, that would be you would be prepared, which would defeat the purpose of my wrath."

He pulled her closer, one arm wrapped around her back, continuing the motion of his thumb, speaking softly beside her ear.
"But if you do not tell me, I shall be constantly living in fear of your wrath. That does not sound like much fun at all."
He knew very well what he was doing, he could see her reaction. He also knew that it was probably a very bad idea, given the discussion they had just had. Still, no harm in a little fun.

Her eyes fluttered closed when he pulled her closer, her breathing speeding up. His lips against her ear allowed her to feel each breath he took, and she was beginning to realise exactly what he was up to. Opening her eyes, she pulled back a little to look up at him.
"You are playing a dangerous game, Locksley."

Robin knew he was pushing all the limits they had, knew he was breaking all the rules according to Marian, but he couldn't help himself.
He could not help but chuckle when she spoke to him in that tone, using his name in that way. He adored her righteous anger, her cautionary tone that she seemed only to direct at him.
"Am I? I hadn't noticed, Marian." He placed his hands on her shoulders, looking down at her.
"In all seriousness, I might be needing you to give me some kind of list of do's and do not's, my love. For right now I am entirely unsure what exactly is okay by you."

Marian looked up at him, realising that he was no longer teasing her. Frowning, she could not help but be confused. After all, her mind was not set to be serious right now, more set along the lines of playing a childish game with him.
"What exactly do you mean?"
He could mean anything, for all she knew, and it was beginning to annoy her that she did not have a firm idea what he was talking about.

"Well, for example..." He pulled her close again, so her head was resting beneath his chin. "Right now, what I am doing. I would consider this a safe enough game, wouldn't you? And if I do this..." He raised her hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to her fingers, "That is not so bad, is it? And this..." He leaned down, pressing a kiss to her forehead, and then her cheek, just beneath her eye, and then her mouth. "Is this breaking the rules, Marian? I did not think so."
Then he let her go and stepped back. "And yet every time we touch now, I feel as though you are cautiously judging each of my actions, worrying what I might do next. I do not want you to worry. You should trust me that I have listened to you."

Marian closed her eyes, losing herself in his examples. When he kissed her, she found herself prolonging the kiss as long as she could. As he pulled away, she knew she was pouting, but also knew that he had something serious to say. Sighing, she reached for his hand.
"I do trust you Robin, I just keep thinking of that day and that it is something you want. I want to make you happy, and each time we touch I know that you want more, even though you wont push for it."

"Marian, no one has ever looked so lovely as you with such a sulky face." He complimented her, teasing.
"Okay, I have a question for you. What is it that you want? You're right, you know exactly where my mind is on such things and yet with you...is that all there is? Then, or never?" He was of course referring to waiting until they were married, but he also found himself wondering if there was not some middle ground.
