"Well, we both know your judgement leaves a lot to be desired." He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, resting his cheek on her hair, breathing her in.
"I suppose there is a way one should go about asking such a question. I doubt I could get away with the same bumbling words I managed to get out the last time."
When he had proposed to her when they were younger, he had been so nervous he had stumbled over the words, managing possibly the most unromantic proposal in history. Still, he had been young.

She couldn't help but laugh when he brought up the proposal from when they were younger. he had mumbled the words, and said it in a typical Robin way. Tightening her hold on him, she nuzzled her head against his chest.
"You will know how to go about it whenever you choose to do so."
She closed her eyes, just enjoying being close to him. It was nice, as always, to have this calm before the storm.

He put a hand to the back of her head, smiling when she seemed determined to make the space between them even smaller. "Looking for something?"
Robin was far more sceptical about his potential proposal. "I have a feeling I will find a way to ruin the moment somehow. In my own special way, of course."
He would have to give it some serious thought, and make sure he gave it the consideration she deserved.

"No, just like being this close."
She was being honest with him, and kissed his cheek when she finally got as close as she could.
"I am sure you would not ruin, just...add to it in your own way. if the day ever comes that is."

"Well, I am certainly not complaining."
He lowered his hands so they were wrapped around her lower back, holding her in a way that he could easily look at her face.
"I could hardly just ask now, could I? I would want to surprise you, Marian."
As soon as he said it, he realised he actually felt rather impatient about it. He almost wished he could ask her now. But then there was the small problem of a ring. He would have to think about that one.

"You do not have to ask now. Ask when you are ready."
She could not believe they were discussing the topic in such a way. Did that mean he wanted to propose now but wanted to make sureshe had no idea when, so now was out of the question? It brought her a small ammount of joy knowing he was just thinking about it.

Robin nodded absently when she spoke, still thinking about what he was going to do about a ring.
He could steal one, but then that wasn't a particularly romantic notion. No, he would have to find a way to pay for one. Or, maybe he could have one made. The thought suddenly occurred to him that there were plenty of people in the villages nearby who could, and would be more than willing to help him, and his payment to them would not have to be in silver or gold.
He smiled, making his decision. Now he just had to find a way to get it done without her knowledge.

She noticed him seeming to become lost in thought, and she could not help the little smile on her face as she watched. She wished she knew what was going on in his head, but knew he would not share. After all, he never shared a lot of things with her.
Suddenly he smiled a little and she could not help but laugh. So whatever was going on in his head was something good, so for a moment she was less worried.
"All right?"

Robin looked at her, shaking himself out of his thoughts at her question.
"Fine just...thinking." He finished, not able to actually say what about. He realised he was going to have to tread carefully on this one. Marian was far too clever for her own good, it would be a full time job just keeping it a secret from her.
Realising he had gotten lost in his thoughts again, Robin laughed. "Sorry, my mind is wandering."

"Do not hurt yourself," she teased when he said he was thinking.
Suddenly he had drifted off again, his mind clearly occupied with something he had to settle. She was starting to get curious, but knew that if he had not told her there what he was thinking of, she doubted he would tell her now.
"I dread to think where it is wandering to," she said with a cheeky smile.

Robin just looked at her when she told him not to hurt himself, shaking his head at her with an amused grin.
"Oh, far away Marian. Far far away." He had actually begun to have trouble focusing on conversation. The idea that some day soon he might propose to her consumed his thoughts. In truth, it terrified him as much as it excited him. What on earth was he going to say to her?

"Must be if it is wandering off every few seconds. Perhaps I should leave you to your thoughts."
She would go if she wanted him too, even though she did not want to. Stepping back a little, she bent over to get the bow and the remaining arrows, before standing to her full height and kissing him gently.
"I will go if you want me to."

Robin laughed, reaching out and placing a hand on her arm, stopping her actions. He laughed when he began to speak.
"No. No don't leave Marian just um," he looked down, grinning, "just give me something else to think about?"
It was a question as much as it was a statement. He needed her to change the subject, to occupy his thoughts somehow.

"Something else?"
She laughed, leaning against him for a moment, one arm going around his waist. So he needed something to distract him from his thoughts, and yet all she could think of was something to do with him and what if that did not help? Sighing, she looked up. The sun was slowly rising, and she could not help but remember something from when they were younger, a moment she had treasured.
"Do you remember that winters evening? We stayed out on the hill over looking Locksley and watched the sunset, stayed there until the stars were bright in the sky. I was so cold and you kept your arms around me the whole time. We fell asleep, my father was furious thinking you had kept his little girl out all night."

He smiled, his hand taking hers at his side. "I remember that. It was the winter just before I left. Your Father certainly was not impressed, when I finally took you home. I thought he was going to kill me."
There was sweetness to the memory, but also regret, because he had lost such moments when he had left. "I doubt Edward has ever forgiven me, for breaking his little girl's heart."
