Anya peered out from behind a large slightly charred oak tree at the outskirts of the forest. In front of her was her former home town of Locksley which now looked shabby and worn compared to its former glory when Robin was Lord of the manner and the Scarlett’s where there to work there wonders. Houses where now decaying far faster than was normal, walls lay in battered planks around the feeble withered plants that grew in the small gardens it made Anya’s heard sick. Although this place had caused her so much pain in the past it was home or a sort of home it ranked higher than a camp in the forest any day but she wasn’t going to let her mind get side tracked by old feelings today. Today she was here to meet Anabelle her oldest friend. The two girls had been best friends since the age 6 and no Sheriff was going to come between that. As little girls Anabelle and Anya where polar opposites as far as they could see, Anabelle liked her dolls and looking pretty where as Anya was quite happy being over head to toe in mood with a wooden dagger in hand. Anabelle more often than not would play the damsel in distress with Anya playing the prince coming to her rescue.
A nostalgic smile spread slowly across Anya face her crystal blue eyes warm with childhood memories. She bent down taking the first rock she found in her hand, a small black jagged one that matched the black of the chard tree, and tossed it at the window of the small hut like house in front of her. This would have been a bad idea if Anya hadn’t watched for an hour making sure Anabells father was out before she threw rocks at there window Anya didn’t fancy a whipping.
“Pssst” Anya whispered, though it was more of a stage whisper,” Annie?”
Anya crouched down and crawled forward her moments almost cat as she edgily made her way to the window. With one dirty palmed hand she tapped on the window lightly before pressing her body back out of the passing villager’s line of site.
“ Annie?”

Anabelle had been feeling pretty lousy the last few days and had spent them indoors. She must have caught the same thing that Peter (the boy living across from her) had. She was sat on a small wooden chair next to her bed and was sewing a hole in her skirt that was made when she was running through the trees on her way to tell her mother urgent news. Her skirt must have gotten caught on a tree or something and ripped.
She heard something tapping on her window and ignored it thinking it was a bird or something. She then thought she heard a voice and decided to go see who or what it could be. She slowly stood up and as walked to the window as fast as her weak legs would carry her. Her small pale face peered out the window.
" Hello, is there somebody there? Anya is that you ?"
Anya had not visited in along time, maybe it was because she was busy with Robin and the gang one of their exciting adventures, or maybe it she was too scared as the security around Locksley was getting tighter everyday. She was about to go back and sit down until she saw a familiar face.
"Oh, it's you, hi"

"Oh, it's you, hi"
Well that was a nice welcome, thought Anya hoisting her self up and though the window draging a little battered patched up sack behind her. The sack was her personal one that she allowed none of the other outlaws to use. She was proud of it, on a particularly wet day when she refused to leave the camp and get drenched in cold spring showers of rain she stayed in the camp and sowed a little brown sack out of one of Muches old capes. Much hadn't been happy but Anya found entertainment in tormenting him plus Much couldn't stay mad at her forever he would forgive her some time soon... she hopped.
"Hungry?" she said dropping it on a table in the room with a light thud and settling her self on an old rug near and empty fire. There was something sad about an empty fire and Anya regretted not brining some fire wood from the forest for her friend.
"So Wheres your husband" she teased grinning at Anabelle knowing fine well that her friend wasn't married. Anabelle was now at that age where every local villager boy and man would be knocking at her door begging for her hand.

"Not really, I have really small appetite because I am very unwell right now. You had better not get too close i don't want you to get ill especially when you live in the cold forest."
Anabelle felt her stomach rumble as she looked at the sack of food "Actually maybe I should eat something." She reached over to the back and had a look inside. Her small frail hand reached in and picked out some bread. "Yum, where did you snatch this from then eh?" She broke small loaf in half and handed the other piece to Anya. The house was really quiet, Anabelle was really bored sitting in the house alone all day and was very glad she had a visitor but she had no energy. "Husband, I wish. Anya you know better than to tease me about men. All the decent men around here are either far too old for my liking or taken. What about you, any woodland romances?"
She put her untouched half of the bread back in the back, she began to feel to ill to eat again. She looked at Anya's very dirty face and smiled. " Anya, would you like to have a wash?" She laughed and stood up. She went over to a small table by the window of got out a small cloth and offered it to Anya.

Anya eyes Annabelle carefully noticing for the first time that she did look unwell, her once magnificence body was not half of its former self and Anya thought she looked a lot more angular. This visit was weeks overdue taking a back seat to the new work she was doing and by the look of her old friend Anya had left it to late. Annabelle was her oldest and dearest friend so she should be on the top of Anyas list of people to help.
Stretching out her petite little legs Anya hoisted her self up holding on to a table to support her aching muscles. Much had been teaching her to fight and so far had been more than fairly hard on her but Anya being the competitive kind never backed down from the challenges he threw her way.
“Eat the lot Annie” Anya said gladly accepting the cleaning cloth,” I can always come back later with more for your family.”
Drawing a thin piece of frayed material from a pocket in her over sized shirt Anya tied back her golden silk matter hair to keep it from her face. Freckles dotted her face which glowed naturally bright from spending so much time out doors. She dabbed at her face with the cloth clearing it of all forest remnants and revealing the pretty, young face underneath.
“You’re just too picky I seem to remember a handsome young man from Nettlestone that adored the very ground you walked upon.” Anya smirked at the memory of Timothy Crowley’s puppy like face starring longingly after Annabelle as she past by him in the market place. “What ever happened to him? He must be near to 23 if im not mistaken. Come on Annabelle fill me in on it all!”
“What about you, any woodland romances?"
Anya grimaced and lightly pulled the cloth over each arm in turn. She new this was going to be brought up at some point and there was know real way of avoiding subject.
“I live in a camp with 4 men who smell and rarely wash, what do you think”.

Anabelle felt bad not eating the food that had been brought, probably especially for her, so she thought she should at least try and eat some of it. She slowly brought her hand down to the table where the bread was and broke a bit off and nibbled at it. She watched Anya clean herself as though she had not cleaned for days, possibly more. There was no way Anabelle could live like that, she was much to well-kept for that. She began picking at the bread with more energy than before, beginning to feel slightly better already as if the bread had some strange magical healing power injected into it.
"I think you may be right, although it has been quite some time since our last meeting, and that was not a very eventful one. He is a shy boy, but sweet also. I had never really thought of him in a romantic manner though."
Anabelle smiles sweetly as the topic of Timothy was brought up, she had known him for years. The first time they had met was many years ago at the market place, she had dropped some of the fabric just bought and he had chased her for minutes to catch up with her and give it back. It was very kind of him. They had been meeting in the market ever since.
"I suppose so, but surely one of the the men tickle your fancy?"
Anabelle had always had a crush on William Scarlett since she was a young girl, they used to play together outside his house with the small wooden toys he would carve. He was ever so handy and used to make Anabelle little presents, she still has some of them lying around somewhere, probably under her bed.
"I don't know what you have feed me Anya but I am happy you did....I feel a whole lot better. How long do you plan to stay here? Father will be home soon and I am not sure his heart could take such a shock as seeing you sat in his home. He is far to moral to keep his mouth shut about something like that. "

Anya wast surprised that Anabelle hadn't noticed poor Timothy who in all fairness he would make someone a wonderful husband and back then Annabella was the only one for him.Anya had had a conversation with him about it before when he had come to her door distroat and heart broken when Annabell had not noticed him in the street. "How can i win her How can you win a girl who does not even know you are alive?". It was painful for Anya to listen to a man pouring out his soul on your door step all teary eyes and soppy Anya was embarrassed but she couldn't send the poor boy away after all there was no one else to tell. There wasnt much Anya could say to him mostly she just listened and smiled sweetly letting her mind wander off to other things less...soppy.
"Poor boy, why not bump in to him accidentally I bet he would love that. You would make his day" Anya grinned placing the dirty cloth draped over the side of the bowl and placing it down on the old wooden table. The look of the now dirty cloth made her feel a little disgusted, to think all that dirt and muck had been on her face and arms it was disgusting. She made up her mind that in future she was going try harder to stay clean in such a dirt ridden place which of coarse would be hard seeing as she lived in a bloody forest.
Anya couldn't stop her musical laugh from erupting at Annabella's last words, she always did make her laugh. She wouldn't answer her question not willingly at least Annabelle would have to do allot more that ask a second time to get the truth from her. Anya was not one to express her hearts true feelings it was to painful and her fear of regection was far to strong instead she would hide under sarcasm.
"Well you know that big hairy man with the beard and the long stick"Anya began keeping her face composed and controlling her voice "Hes so lovely and protective and handsome and would make the most wonderful husband and little John is not so little if you get my drift. I have been living in the forest with 5 men i have seen many things i shouldn't and that is one of the".
She couldn't hold it in a second longer she burst out laughing patting Annabelle lightly on the back and pulling the bag of food towards her which she proceeded to unpack.

Anabelle was not really interested in Timothy any more than just a friend. Nice boy, but far too sensitive. Although she said she had not noticed him and the way he looked at her, she in fact had and had pretended not to notice so that it wouldn't be awkward. She enjoyed his company though, they always had very interesting conversation like what they would do if they ruled Nottingham or if they had lots of money. She in a way felt sorry of Timothy, He had a nice face and he was always smiling but he always looked as though he was hiding something, something sad.
"I do not want to lead him on, he is far too easily wounded. I think it best to stay friends"
There was a short silence in the room until Anya let out a laugh. "Phew, for a moment there I believed you" She held her stomach and giggled. She had never really had a proper conversation with Little John, just a few hellos now and again. He seemed like a rather nice man though. She had often thought about what it would be like to join the outlaws, it seemed like they always had so much fun and they had so much freedom, possibly too much. Anabelle actually quite liked having some rules, it made her feel safer.
"How long has it been now then? How long have you been living out there in the jungle?"
Anabelle now felt a whole lot better and wanted to get out of the house for a bit, especially since her father would be back extremely soon. She stood up and packed Anya's bag for her. She slipped on her small tattered sandals and pulled a scruffy jumper over her head.
"I don't know about you but i need to get out of this house. I think i am going to go a walk, maybe to the market. Care to join me? Oh wait, I wouldn't want you to get caught. "

"How long has it been now then? How long have you been living out there in the jungle?"How long had it been now In the forest time passed differently, days felt a lot longer then before but then again other days should would be doing so much that a day seemed to pass in just a few hours. On days where they where doing "good deeds" in Nottingham town and the surrounding villages there didn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get all the things thy needed to done.It was frustrating and could some times leave Anya with a head ache. In reality she had only been in the forest for just under a month and was still not completely settled although she was loving it. The freedom she now had was almost over whelming but now that she had tasted the free air there was no way she was going back to being a caged animal.
"Who knows,"she said passively waving her hand absentmindedly"feels like yeas but i think about three four weeks. Planning on joining us any time soon or are you still in love with order and decorum?"
Anya never really had any order or decorum she was far to wild for any of that and that is why people said she would never find a husband. That didn't bother Anya much she was quite happy being a wild untamed creature. Of coarse she new that Anabelle wouldn't want to join her in the forest , she was far to lady like for living in a muddy smelly forest. plus the image of Annables angel like presence brandishing a sword just didn't work.
"Yes lets head in to town. I do love town"Anya said sarcastically putting on a more lady like voice pronouncing all her letters properly."Maybe we can find you a man. What is it you like?Tall dark and mysterious or what about sensitive and slight ?".

"Oh i have met far too many sensitive men, I think dark and mysterious sounds good to me"
Anabelle was joking and had no real intention in going to town to look for men, but it looked as though Anya was being serious and so Anabelle went along with it. It wouldn't all that bad if they ran into somebody that ended up being the perfect man. Anabelle was ready to leave her house so she picked up a horrible dirty looking purse and placed it over her shoulder.
"Would you like to leave your bag here, I wouldn't mind. Though you would have to hide it as my father would be curious to where it had come from."
She loved her home and could not imagine being anywhere different, but a change would be nice. Just maybe the forest was too much of a change. Anabelle would never do anything against the law purposely anyway. There was probably no chance of her ever joining the Anya in the forest. She stepped outside and waited for Anya to follow. She had always loved the journey to town it was such a nice walk.
"I haven't any money today, but I do enjoy looking at all the lovely clothes"
She imagined herself wearing a beautiful light blue coloured gown with a dark blue sash around the waist. She had saw it in the marketplace a few weeks back and had immediately fell in love with it . She had hoped that one day she would be able to afford it, but somebody had probably already bought it by now.
"I think maybe we should also be on the look out for a gentleman for you Anya, or do you prefer them rugged, and living in the forest?"

Anya laughed her face full of surprise at her friends answer Annabelle had changed allot and it saddened Anya that she had not been around to see it, he life would be an unhappy place with out Annabelle to cheer her up.
"Ok dark and mysterious it is. I guess i should have guessed when you said you had a crush on Will," she teased lowering her voice "I will have to put a good word in for you".
"Would you like to leave your bag here, I wouldn't mind. Though you would have to hide it as my father would be curious to where it had come from."
That was a good idea. Anya nodded and slipped the bag behind the empty cole bucket before rejoining Annabelle by your side. Annabelle's father had always made Anya feel uncomfortable so she didn't want to do anything to anger him especially now she was on the run. Anya smiled, the type of smile that has something hidden behind it but your not sure what.
"Mmmm i think i have lost my taste for dresses and fine fabrics, then again i never really hand any," she mused opening the front door where a shaft of bright sunlight hit them square in the face.
"I think maybe we should also be on the look out for a gentleman for you Anya, or do you prefer them rugged, and living in the forest?"
Anya lifted her hood to shield her face from the light and un wanted eyes. Today she would try her best to stay out of trouble which was hard from some one who seemed to attract it unwillingly.
"Did you not just hear me confess my love for little john? I don't know I guess I'm a little to picky"

"Will Scarlett? No? I don't know who told you that, but it certainly was not me. It cannot and is not true! He was too much of a friend for me to like him romantically"
Anabelle was walking alongside Anya with her bag hanging loosely over her shoulder. She had no memory of admitting to Anya she had always had a huge crush on Will. Has she guessed it maybe? She just denied it and pretended she had no idea what she was talking about. They walked past an old lady sitting at the side of the path, begging for money, Anabelle did not have money to spare so she just gave her a smile and carried on walking by.
"Lost your taste for dresses! Anya, my dear friend. You have been away to long, this is seriously effecting you. We definitely need this trip to town."
Anabelle could not believe that Anya had no interest in dresses. It is what Anabelle loved most, apart from her family of course. She at least used to pretend to be interested and help Anabelle pick out lovely outfits. Anya looked like one of the men now, maybe if she cut her hair shorter she could look like a young man, with very feminine features. She look very dirty and shabby, she could do with some new clothes, but they would probably get all ripped up running through the trees like Anya does. Anabelles clothes were rarely ripped. Sometimes on long walks the would get a small holes at the bottom of her dresses, but she was usually quite careful and lifted her dress to prevent it.
"Little John, of course."
Anabelle laughed slightly. Anya had indeed always been a bit too picky, but then again Anabelle was also quite similar. There never were many men that took her fancy. Maybe Anya was joking about Little John because she did in fact like him. No. Of course not, that is just ridiculous.
They neared town and had been walking for a while now. The were catching up with each other and finding out how each other lived. Anabelle was just happy with her life and was getting increasingly less jealous of Anya's freedom. Anabelle was extremely scared of being caught with Anya there would be serious consequences. Anya would be hanged for being an outlaw, and Anabelle would most likely also be hanged for being with an outlaw. Anabelle was only thinking of herself at this moment, she had no intention of getting hanged. Not today.
"Ahh, here we are. You had better hide your face, I would not want to be the cause of you being caught"

Anya raised an eye brow at her friends with a twisted grin on her face as she adjusted her hood around her head. It was a quite day in the town, not many where out doors and those who where to engrossed in there own business to care what two girls where up to.
“You didn’t have to say anything Annie it was easy to guess. The look on your face combined with your repeated denial made it obvious. Would you like me to set the two of you up? Would you like me to see what I can do? You did say you where looking for some one dark and mysterious.” Anya teased once again.
The passed very few people as they walked towards Nottingham town it was a Wednesday so there where a few merchants pushing there carts to and from the town. Anya looked at the fine cloths that pocked out of the cart. It was true she never really had very much interest in dresses and jewellery but she did like to look pretty. Didn’t every girl? Anya looked down at the large over sided mans shirt that drenched her petite frame. What man would look twice at her when she walked beside some one so lady like an Anabelle.
"Lost your taste for dresses! Anya, my dear friend. You have been away to long, this is seriously affecting you. We definitely need this trip to town."
“Dresses mmm far to restricting I like to be able to move with out people seeing my undewrappings.”
A sandy haired boy passed by the two girls as they approached the gates to the castle. He was a pretty boy with long curly sandy locks deep blue eyes and a strong body. Anya nidghes Anabelle in the ribs as softly as she could but strong enough so that it was still a nudge.
“Well well, What about that then?”

Oh no! Was there much point in denying it now? But it was obvious that there was something going on between Will and Djaq, they were always looking at each other. It kind of made Anabelle feel awkward and slightly jealous. She wanted to say yes to her getting set up with Will, but she was not so sure if she was joking about that or not so Anabelle just laughed to cover her real feelings up. It was early and as they passed all the carts getting pushed towards the town Anabelle took a quick look at the dresses passing by to see if any of them were nice enough to spend her precious little money on.
"Oh no, I will admit that I am a little attracted to Will, but never enough to pursue a realtionship with. He is too good a friend for that. No no no, no setting up required, I am in fact not worried about finding love just yet. I still have time." Anabelle laughed a bit and she began to get butterflies in her stomach thinking about Will, sos he was glad that Anya had changed the subject to talk about the timid looking blonde boy walking nearby. He did not have the worst features and hsi clothes were not awful. He wore a beige tunic with brown trousers. He had lovely long fair hair that was curled from roots to tips. He was quite good-looking but Anabelle was not that interested. She thought maybe Anya was interested and this was why she had brought him up.
"Yes, he is not bad. You could do worse Anya, for example..."
Anabelle pointed over at a small man crouching over picking up something he had dropped. He was nothing like the blonde boy. He was old and wrinkled, wearing clothes that looked like they had not been washed in months. They were very ripped and tattered and were hanging off his shoulders. His shoes were too small andhis toes were sticking out. Anabelle frowned at him, she hated seeing men so unfortunate that they have no choice but to have an absolutley awful appearance. Although she felt sorry for this man, she laughed as she pointed at him.
"I think we had better carry on, I am in no mood to be bothered by the beggars."

At that moment the boy looked round catching the two looking at him and with a sudden reddening of his cheeks he rushed away through the gates around round a corner. Anya smirked, usually this situation would be reversed it was very rarely that a man would blush in result of merely being looked at by a girl.
"I bet your father wants you married? Has he tried to push any of his fiends at you?"Anya said the remanense of the smirk still on her lips as they passed through the town gates. Just as the walk in had been the town was relatively quiet with only a few carts lining the main street. The sun had now passed over the sun plunging the town in to a glummy shade. Having only recently joined the merry men any wasn't to affred of being seen, there where only a few guards that new her face.
"Do better!" she exclaimed a little to loudly "he was not my type at all...i confess i to am not to worried about marriage. Who wants to be tied down, besides i would make a terrabil wife."
Anya glanced to the side and her face fell as she looked in to the faces of a begger by her side. A pang of guilt hit her and she lowered here eyes and turned away she would have brought more food. This for once was not all the sheriffs doing it was down to the cruel winter that had just past throw them in to a harsh food shortage. Even the outlaws had found it hard to get food to pass on to the poor of Nottingham. Not liking the feeling that was washing over her Anya tried to change the subject.
"How is old Mr Davis?"
