“She doesn’t look too happy though, what have you done this time or is that a question better left unanswered?”
Allan quietly laughed at her question, lying back with his shoulders against the wooden chair he was occupying.
"Ah, now that's a good question indeed." He turned for a brief moment to catch glimpse of the slightly annoyed expression on the girl in question's face. Probably she was wondering why he hadn't gone to her yet to ask if Guy had left something for him, whether in the form of money or info on when he was to meet him next. He swiftly turned his gaze away, focusing on Anya once again.
"You know what? A gentleman never tells." He stated with his best innocent look. Though the scowl on Anya's face clearly suggested that she didn't consider him a gentleman at all... not that he thought otherwise. "And as for you easily overcoming her... I'm not sure. Even though you're a good fighter, I'm not being funny but there's nothing like a woman scorned. And you standing here with me could be the very reason of her bad mood."
He stated with a lazy wink as she rolled her eyes at him, placing her elbows on the table and looking around.
Allan followed her gaze, taking in their surroundings as he lazily started to play with one of the cups he used for his tricks. He stopped when he heard her sighing.
“But the men over there aren’t the smartest looking besides we have no money to by something to drink.”
His eyes immediately lit up as he noticed the small group she had just referred to. He recognized an easy prey when he saw it. Well, technically this time it had been all Anya's doing... but that didn't change much the facts.
"You wanna do the honor of accompany me and be my lucky charm?" He asked with a grin. Honestly he didn't want to leave her alone at the table in a place like that... though he wouldn't have admitted it. Partly because that wasn't his style, and partly cause he wasn't sure of how she would have reacted at such attention. Marian had gotten them used to women who didn't like to be treated as the ones who needed protection, and he knew better than challenge Anya on such topic.

"You know what? A gentleman never tells."
Anya held back a laughed, she was not convinced. When did Allen ever hold back when it came to talking about women? Usually he would delight in the chance to talk about his favourite subject. Maybe on this occasion it was not Eloise who had her heart broken but the other way round, if so Anya wanted to be the first one to know and get her little comments in first.
“Ehh, Allen you do” Anya said resisting the urge to roll her eyes once more.” And would you really call yourself a gentleman?”
“And as for you easily overcoming her... I'm not sure. Even though you're a good fighter, I'm not being funny but there's nothing like a woman scorned. And you standing here with me could be the very reason of her bad mood."
Anya straightened up defensively dropping her arm to the table with a light thud. She had thought about retaliating with something witty but her mind went blank and she dismissed. If Anya had been in one of her bad moods a comment like that might have set her in to one of her childish tantrums but today she was far lazy for any armature dramatics.
“You wanna do the honor of accompany me and be my lucky charm?"
“I suppose but if your little lady friend decides to get her claws out your on your own” Anya smirked pushing her self up from the table and on to her feet. The dim subdued atmosphere had made her feel sluggish and she didn’t fancy getting thrown out in to the cold.Anya crossed the room and slid on to the bench next to a very drunk slobbering Ronald. Anya looked up at Allen slightly disgusted but more amused that it was only mid afternoon and the poor man could not even hold his head up. Didn’t look like they where going to get much out of him but the others where not nearly as far gone as Ron.

“I suppose but if your little lady friend decides to get her claws out your on your own.”
"Oh c'mon, you're killing all the fun now." The outlaw snickered as he stood up as well, following Anya with slow and lazy steps, weary dragging his foot on the dusty pavement. "I wouldn't love anything better than seeing you two fight over me. Now won't you?"
The blonde haired girl turned to look at him with both her eyebrows lifted, an eloquent answer in her expression.
"Alright, perhaps you won't. Just know that you're breaking my heart with that, little one." He snickered, well knowing she hated to be addressed this way... he had learnt so at his own expense when one of Much's wooden bowl had hit him right on the forehead the first time he had tried said nickname.
In meanwhile they reached a table where the majority of the men occupying it were already far beyond drunk. Allan let himself collapse on the bench opposite Anya's, who had sat down next to a man he immediately recognized.
He didn't look like he could have invested much in the game... but at least he was the less drunk among the whole group.
"Good afternoon, my friend!" The trickster enthusiastically greeted Robert while he positioned the three cups on the wooden surface "This is your lucky day, c'mon, have a go!"

"Oh c'mon, you're killing all the fun now."
“Me kill the fun,” Anya turned to look at him with mock surprise but annoyance fell upon her face as she used the name she hated so much. “Your heart is that fragile that it would brake at the mere hint of disappointment, Ohh Allen I expected more from you.”
At that moment the man beside her wobbled on the bench banging in to her fore a second and sending a spasm of surprise fly through her. Ronald smiled ruefully at her as her head snapped to him in surprise. For a second she observed the mans state, although she did not envy the slobbering mess he was she did wish that women had the freedom to act so freely as men did. Yes she lived in the forest and ran amuck with the outlaws but she was still a lady and there where boundaries that just weren’t crossed.
“Now which of you lovely lads wants to by me a drink then” Anya said trying her luck and finding that it was quickly successful. Seconds later a mug of ale was pushed in to her hand by a plumpish man with a mane of red hair. Anya had never been one to flaunt her femininity but today it had successfully won her, her very first mug of ale. She had tasted it before but never in all her 19 years had she had her very own mug. Pleased with herself she took a large gulp and found it strangely satisfying.
“Now that’s a gentleman Allen, you should learn from him” she teased. With her mood lifted significantly Anya gazed at Allan eagerly awaiting the cups first contestant.

“Your heart is that fragile that it would break at the mere hint of disappointment, Ohh Allan I expected more from you.”
"Nah, that's only when you're the one trying to break it. I can't bear that from you, m'lady." He replied in a mocking-flirty way, flashing Anya his best cheeky grin.
He surely knew how to enjoy his time with her with their entire verbal back and forth; it was difficult not to be amused by such arguments or teasing they usually shared.
And, after all, lately at the camp she was almost the only one who bothered to keep up with his antics. Robin had become a bit more silent... probably thoughtful about the complicate situation with Marian now that she was secluded in the castle, Will and Day often found themselves together, Little John was grumpy as usual, and Much... well his arguments with Allan weren't exactly as playful as Anya's; as much as the trickster liked to annoy him nevertheless.
As a confirmation to his own thoughts, here it came another teasing from her, calling him out of his silent recollection.
“Now that’s a gentleman Allen, you should learn from him.” She declared as one of the men they were sat with offered her his own drink.
"See? You keep attempting to break my heart." He rolled his eyes, "You're assuming that I can't provide for you with my own honest resources... you know how to hurt a man's confidence." He placed a hand on his heart, pretended to be heart. "Now watch and learn, you mistrusting girl." He lazily winked at her.

"See? You keep attempting to break my heart."
“Is it working?" Anya said rising the cup to her mouth contemplating another sip “Or should I review my tactics. Maybe I am going about this all wrong, I am considering making you fall in love with me causing your little lady friends heart to break which would in turn break your heart. How about that? A much more interesting direction is it not.”
Anya sipped her wide grin hidden by the glass. She couldn’t help her self going on about the bar maid not satisfied with little truthful answer she was getting from him. Yes she was enjoying the playful banter as always but at the back of her brain something about the look the girl had giving him was off. Beside her someone stirred in there seat and hit something hard down on to the table.
“Ill bet ya’ a crown I can out smart ya” he slurred indicating Allan’s three cups. The other men around the table sblack personed, Ron was not the brightest of men and every one knew it. While Ronald’s attention was else where Anya spotted his full pint of ale and carefully slid it in Allan’s direction, she had felt a little bad about it but then again Ron had probably had a bit to much already. Really she was doing him a favour.
With an innocent smile on her face Anya watched as Ron turned back round and tapped the coin on the table with one large dirty finger.
” he said tapping his nose there times “There it is my bet, now show me your moves and ill show you mine, and winking at Anya.

"I am considering making you fall in love with me causing your little lady friends heart to break which would in turn break your heart. How about that? A much more interesting direction is it not.”
"Ahh, see, that's the problem." He flashed her his best grin, "You're assuming that I care enough about my little friend as you call her... but what if you're already breaking my heart by ignoring my attentions toward you?" And with that he lazily winked at her, trying to steal away her cup of ale... before she swatted his hand away.
Though, before they could start another argument, a third voice spoke up and captured Allan's attention.
“Ill bet ya’ a crown I can out smart ya”
The dare was just music for the trickster's ears, who immediately positioned his shiny cups on the wooden surface.
"Let's see what you got then." He mischievously grinned, starting to perform his well known trick.

"You're assuming that I care enough about my little friend as you call her... but what if you're already breaking my heart by ignoring my attentions toward you?"
Anya thought for a second trying to think of a witty come back but nothing came to her, Allan would win just this once she would find a way of getting back at him another time. The trouble with Allan was he had a way of making you think you liked him.
"Hey" Anya said hitting his hand way from her drink that she raised to her lips to drink from," Don’t even think about it".
Anya despite her current living arrangements and occupation was still a woman found her self looking at Allan in a peculiar way every so often. Of course she scolded her self for it after all it was Allan the notorious womanizer and Anya would not let her self be sucked in my his charm.
"Let's see what you got then."
Ron watched with drunken eyes as the silver cups went round and round and round and it was almost enough to make him sick. Clumsily he raised a dirty farm hand and tapped the cup on the right with a large toothy grin.

"Hey, don’t even think about it."
Allan lazily rolled his eyes as she swatted his hand away, leaving him with nothing to drink.
"Alright, but that's not very lady-like, you know." He snorted, "Then you can't complain if I'm left to earn my drink this way" he nodded at the cups he had previously placed on the wooden table "since I can't count on my pretty blonde hair for that."
With that said he showed his trademark grin... it looked like this time he had won the argument, and this was enough for the trickster to enjoy their break from food-giving and other usual activities.
"Alright, my friend" he announced as Ron eventually chose the cup on the extreme right "let's see if you've paid attention closely..." he trailed off as he proceeded to lift up the cup... that was obviously empty. "Oh, no way! That's just bad luck... you need to try again, you were this close to win, I feel it!" He said with his best innocent smile, quickly snatching from the table the coin that Ron had betted.

Ronald was sure he had out smarted the young fellow. Even in his inebriated he was sure he had kept his eye on the cup which held the ball. The cup would be lifted any second and he would feel the sweet sensation of victory which he would savour and milk for all it was worth. What Ronald did not realize that if he indeed did win this petty little bar trick that his friends would all expect the next round on him.
“Hand me over my prize money lad,” Ron said seconds before the tiny silver cup was lifted exposing the empty space within. Ronald’s face fell slowly as he gawped at the cup. It wasn’t possible he had watched it and that was the same cup…or was it? Now that he thought about it he was seeing 6 cups not 3 so maybe it was possible he had mixed real cup with drunken cups.
“Ahh ya’ outsmarted me” he said with an over dramatic sigh. “That’s me done for tonight boys this we lads cleared me out.” Ron’s tone was friendly and accepting and he was ready to go home and sleep till mid day his friends however where not so happy.
One, a black bearded man with an unforgettable large nose, rose to his feet and glared drunkenly down at the cups.
“You is not thinking about takin’ his moneys are ya’”. It was more of a statement than a question. Ron was also on his feet with a hand on Anyas shoulder and mouthing a good night he was not interested in any fight his friend was trying to start.

Allan's hand was already halfway across the table, ready to grab the coin just won while he triumphantly grinned at Anya.
...As if she didn't know already what was going to happen from the very moment they had stepped inside; after all he had become an expert in the art of conning. Nor there was really something to be proud in that, but that was the outlaw's life... at least for the time being.
Though he was forced to stop in mid-action and he couldn't succeed in annoying the blonde girl any longer when another man suddenly spoke up.
“You is not thinking about takin’ his moneys are ya’”.
The outlaw lifted his eyes in confusion, faking his best innocent look.
"Why shouldn't I? Look, I've won them fair and square. Everybody can tell you that... right lads?" He turned to the other men surrounding the table with his arms outstretched, as to invite a matter-of-factly response.

A tall man in a hood had been at the bar slowly sipping his single drink. He looked not only, but relatively thin and lanky. However, this relatively quiet customer was a woodsman and carpenter as well, and deceptively strong. He had watched this type of scene play out with Allan many tiumes before in several different places. Allan always won, but the reactions of the other part vied.
Sometimes they accepted their loss well and just walked away. Sometimes they refused to accept the loss and overturned the table, making a play for Allan. And sometimes they accepted it, but some of their drunken friends did not. The latter seemed to be the one that was playing out today. This time, though, Anya was playing the close-in role that Will often had found himself in. Will Scarlett pulled the hood back on his old and weatherbeaten brownish-green cloak back, while his right-hand secured its grip on his 'big chopper' under his cloak, while he kept his back against the bar, making sure that no one could sneak in behind him.
"I think that you will find, despite the natural unfairness of this game, that it was all done above-board. He took a risk, a risk he was well aware of, and lost. He seems prepared to accept that loss in good nature. Unless you are prepared to lose something more precious than mere coins I suggest that you back off and go about your business, eh!" he said looking through them with one of his best cold stares, waiting to see both what their reaction and Allan's was. He had, after all, the benefit of having his weapons at the ready, which they did not.

Allan inwardly smirked as Will interjected in the argument... talk about perfect timing.
He wasn't aware of the presence of his fellow outlaw in the inn as well, but he surely wasn't going to complain. Especially not now. He hated starting fights over the game, mostly cause he was always too lazy for that. He preferred to spare the energies for better situations... such as to run when the sheriff's dogs were sent after the whole gang, for example.
"See? Just like he said. Not being funny but it's all down to luck. You win some, you lose some." He spread his arms in a matter-of-fact gesture, shooting the man an innocent grin.
The man in question was moving his drunken gaze back and forth from Will to Allan, probably trying to figure out if the two were indeed trying to fool him. Allan wasn't sure whether that would lead to a fight or not, nevertheless he knew that remaining peacefully sat there wasn't surely an advantage in that case. So he quickly stood up, pulling Anya with him by seizing her forearm, aware of the perplexed expression she was aiming at him.
He already knew an "I can perfectly defend myself on my own" argument was coming for him, but it was better not to risk when it came to the blonde distraction.
"It's been a pleasure my friends, we should do it some other time." He said with a cheeky grin once the two of them reached Will.

Every thing moved to fast for Anyas ever so slightly tipsy and tired brain. Perhaps it wasn’t such a good idea to presume she would have been able to handle as much as Allen or the others. Lazily she smiled ruefully at Ronald who stood bewildered by her side. It was clear that he didn’t give two hoots about them money he was past it and just looked like he wanted to sleep some where. His friend was the one causing all the kafuffle his eyes flashing under his thick dark eyebrows. Anya didn’t fancy being on the wrong side of him he looked positively terrifying.
“And you lost,” Anya said sweetly smiling apologetically up at Ron who barely blinked back with unfocused eyes.
The sound of a very familiar voice drifted over her head and Anya had to twist her self and lift her head to see the face of none other than Will Scarlet. Where had he been all day? One word …Djaq. Anya was sure, or she had a hunch anyway. Before Anya could even think about greeting him she was being hoisted up roughly by the forearm.
“Hey!”
What was he doing treating her like a little girl in front of all these people it was embarrassing! She was willing to start an argument over it but decided against it. Allan would no doubt give her another excuse to argue with him later. Instead she gave him a short death stair before proceeding past him to the door and giving him a less playful shove than usual. As she reached the large heavy oak door she turned, one hand resting against its damp wood, and smiled wearily at Will. Why was it that every Tripp to the Inn resulted in them having to flee?
“Sherwood bound?”

Will knew that Allan rarely left anything to chance .... that is .... he rarely gambled .... he went for sure things. And Will was pretty sure that Allan had not liked the odds that he had thought he was faced with. He was pretty sure that Allan had not known that he was there, but he didn't think he objected too much, at least this time. Will did not like anyone being tricked out of their money, but it was interesting to watch Allan at work.
"See? Just like he said. Not being funny but it's all down to luck. You win some, you lose some."
"Yeah, right," Will whispered to himself. "More like win none and lose the rest." He thought to himself that Allan really had the body language down. He almost did look innocent, except Will knew better.
"It's been a pleasure my friends, we should do it some other time."
The only question was whether the man was going to take the explanation, and if he didn't, whether he liked his odds against two better than one. After Will gave the room one more serious look he said, "I assume the two of you are ready to go, or did you want to stay for some quality time with your new friends?"
