Robin led the way back to camp, his long fingers wrapped around Mary’s wrist. The scarf he usually wore was wrapped around her eyes as a makeshift blindfold. It would not be fair for the others to let her see the way to camp when they did not know her, and had no reason to trust her.
The rain was light enough now that it barely reached them through the thick canopy, but the continued damp had not helped give his clothes or hair a chance to dry. He was very much looking forward to a chance to get warm again. Then, he could focus on the main problem at hand. How to convince Mary to cease her night time heroics. It was possible Marian could help with that. She knew the risks involved; she had faced death because of them. Then again, knowing how stubborn she was, she might very well encourage the younger girl.
He entered the clearing just beyond camp with Mary still trailing along behind him and was greeted by the sight of Marian. He smiled at her before turning back to Mary. Robin removed the scarf from her eyes, giving her a chance to let her eyes adjust.
“There now. That wasn’t so bad, was it?” he asked her with a grin. She had not been too pleased about the blindfold in the first place. He looked between the two of them.
“Mary, this is Marian. Marian, Mary.” He almost winced, because he was certain he knew what Marian's reaction to the situation would be.

Marian had barely slept the night before, worry over Robin taking over. She did not want to sleep when Robin wasn't safe, and she had instantly thought the worse. When she saw him arrive, woman in tow, she couldn't help the anger that welled up in her. He'd not been in the camp last night...then turns up with a woman.
"Nice to meet you Mary," she said in the most polite way she could.
She was sure she was glaring daggers at Robin before she looked down at the forest floor, unable to look at him again.

Robin raised a brow at Marian's polite, and somewhat fake sounding greeting.
Then she looked at him, and Robin felt all the anger she was obviously feeling toward him. He had to ask. "What, Marian? What on earth have I done this time?"
Mary's presence was practically forgotten as he stared back at the woman who managed to frustrate him like no one else could.

"What have you done? Robin I didn't see you all day, then you weren't back at the camp by nightfall. I thought you'd been hurt, or caught by the Sheriff. Then you come back and you've been..."
She couldn't bear to say what was going through her mind. SO many doubts and worries. What if he had spent the night with Mary after saying he would wait for her. After all, he had said how desperately he wanted her perhaps he just wanted someone.
Walking over to where she slept, she sat down, her eyes avoiding them. She felt guilty for thinking the worse, but he hadn't been home and what else was she expected to think?

Robin stared wide eyed at Marian. Oh. He had not thought of that. Still, it was not as if he had been gone that long. She worried too much, really.
And now, she thought he had spent the night with Mary? Robin scoffed, indignant. How could she think that about him?
"Marian, that is hardly fair." He felt bad for Mary, having to stand here and have a woman she had never met making such assumptions about her. About both of them.

"Is it not? Robin I left the castle to be with you. And then when I've barely been living in the camp a few days you're gone all day and night whilst I just sat on your bed waiting."
She was clearly upset about this. She had been worried sick all night, thinking he was dead somewhere, for him to waltz in and introduce some girl to her. She didn't care if she was being irrational, she couldn't help the way she felt.

Looking back at Mary, Robin rolled his eyes theatrically before turning back to Marian.
"Marian, it was not my intention to make you worry. I did not realise you would be so concerned. I had to talk to Mary. It was important. I could hardly force her to spend a night walking through the rain could I? It got dark, and the cave was closest. And I could hardly have spent the night in her bedroom, either. In fact, it was in thinking of you that I spent the night sitting in the rain, and now find myself drenched from head to toe." He spread his arms, demonstrating that very fact.
He looked at her calmly when he had finished speaking, daring her to question him.
"And now, I return to camp and do not even get a greeting? I had thought, perhaps, that your thoughts of my possibly dire circumstances might at the very least grant me a kiss." His tone was full of teasing and laughter as he finished speaking.

Marian looked at him as he stretched his arms out, only just realising how soaked he was. So he didn't want to stay in the cave where Mary was sleeping because he knew she wouldn't approve. Grinning a little, she stood up.
"So...you didn't stay away on purpose."
Grinning she threw herself into his arms, not caring if she became soaked. Running her arms up his chest and around his neck, she ran her fingers through his hair then pulled him down for a desperate kiss. It was only in that moment she managed to calm down, no longer worrying about him.

Robin smiled into the kiss, bringing his arms up to wrap around her back, hugging her close, belatedly realising he was probably making her dry clothes wet. He was touched that she had worried for him so, even if he did believe the worry was misplaced.
When he pulled back from the kiss, he smiled down at her in fond exasperation, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Of course I did not stay away on purpose. Do you honestly believe I ever could?"

"Well...probably not," she said with a grin.
For a moment she forgot they had company and she found herself pulling him back to her, kissing him again. Standing as close as she could, she ran her hands up and down his back, feeling her clothing slowly beginning to stick to her as they were soaked but she didn't care. She had him in her arms and that was all that mattered.

"Not so bad? I kept thinking you wore going to walk me off a cliff." She laughed, teasing.
She looked at Marion, she was beautiful. "Nice to meet you Marion, I've heard alot about you." She smirked, "All good."
Mary blushed at the warm, wet, greeting between the hero and his love. Smiling, and feeling quite out of place. But she patiently stood near, waiting for them to remember she was there. She took it upon herself to gaze at the camp, wondering how it had held up during the rain, and seeing wet spots of soil everywhere.

Marian gave Robin one last light kiss when she heard Mary speaking, pulling back and blushing brightly. She felt guilty for forgetting that she was here, and quickly brushed her hair away from her face.
"I dread to think what he has said about me."
The fact that he had mentioned her made her feel happy, and her hand slid down to take his firmly. So he had been thinking about her, that was a comfort.

Turning to face Mary when Marian did, Robin laughed, squeezing Marian's hand when she took his.
"Marian, I am shocked and dismayed to learn that you think I would be anything but complimentary of you."
He gave Mary a wink. "Perhaps you should show her the spoils, Mary. She has been without any food befitting a lady for quite some time, now." He nodded at the sack containing the food in Mary's hand.

Mary chuckled, "It was all good things, most of the time. I'm kiding." She smiled, and revealed the food. "Almost a full goose and a loaf of bread. I'm sure you must be starving"
Mary somewhat felt she was invading in Robin and Marion's space, as long as she hadn't met her it seemed okay.

"I am hungry, yes, but not starving. I have little to complain about with the food I get compared to the food the villages get. Especially just now with the shortage."
She smiled, suddenly realising that may sound rude. Squeezing Robin's hand, almost as if trying to tell him she was not angry, she looked to Mary.
"Sorry, you must understand how situations like these hit my heart. But thank you, it is appreciated."
