"I did not deserve it. Well okay, sometimes. But not always. You were just annoyed because you could never beat me," he laughed, teasing.
Robin scoffed, looking offended, though unable to keep the amusement off his face. "Pretty? You're really going to go with pretty?" He could think of any number of words much more suited.

"I could beat you at some things!"
However these things she was sure she could beat him at she could not really remember. Then he was pretending tp b annoyed at her comment and she could not help but giggle. Her arms went around him, her bow against his back as she held him.
"Very pretty?"

"Some things? Which things were they, Marian?" This conversation was just strange. He felt almost as if he was talking to a fourteen year old Marian again. Stubborn and proud. Not that that had changed.
He rolled his eyes when she wrapped his arms around him, bringing his own arms up around her back. "Well, I was thinking maybe something that made me sound less like someone who enjoys wearing pretty dresses and flowers in my hair. Though I do appreciate the added 'very'," he laughed.

"Riding," she offered as an example.
He would probably disagree, but she always thought she was a much better rider than him. He may disagree, but she did not care. She grinned as his arms went around her back, glad he seemed to do so on automatic.
"How about...handsome?"

"Riding," he repeated her example, nodding. "Alright, I'll give you that one. When we were young, you were the better rider."
He tightened his hold around her, smirking, waiting for her to be smug and pretend to be shocked that he had agreed. "You think I'm handsome?" He asked, surprised. He really couldn't help the question.

"Still am," she said, moving her bow to hit the back of his legs lightly.
She grinned at his schocked expression. After all, she thought he would just grin that stupid grin and agree with her. Rolling her eyes a little, she tightened her hold on him, keeping him closer.
"Yes. My handsome Lord of Locksley."

"Hey, no beating me up," he laughed, indignant. "Are not," he returned.
He automatically pulled her head to his chest when she held him tighter, his hand resting against her hair. Her words caused a little smile on his face. "Your handsome Lord of Locksley, eh?" He grinned. "I think you're the only one who still calls me that. Lord of Locksley, I mean. I'm sure there's plenty who call me handsome," he joked.

"Are too. And I shall beat you up if I wish." To prove her point, she hit him again with the bow. She could not help the little grin on her face as she hit him, enjoying the moment.
Then he was holding her close, returning the tight hold. She loved it when he held her like that, his hand holding her against his chest. It made her feel so safe, as if nothing could get to her here.
"Yes, mine. And I see no reason to stop calling you Lord of Locksley, you still are and always will be in my eyes." She rose her eyebrow as he joked about others saying he was handsome, her bow hitting his bum this time. "There will be one less if you are not careful."

Robin laughed when she whacked him with the bow again. "Are not. And you're just lucky you aren't very strong," he lied, teasing. He knew exactly how strong she was, in more than one way, if not physically.
"Thank you, Marian. I have to admit I like hearing that. I know it is true, but the longer I live in the forest and eat squirrel the more I wonder if I will ever get it back." He rolled his eyes. "Listen to me. How negative. I know everything will work out eventually." He stepped back when she hit him again, his hands on her shoulders. "Now now, Marian. You should play nicely. You never know what I might do."

"I am strong!" she found herself responding, even though she knew he was teasing.
She listened as he spoke of his worries, not feeling like the Lord Of Locksley. However, she knew that no matter what situation she found herself in, wherever he found himself, she would see him with that title.
"You still are, no matter how long you stay here, you will always be Lord of Locksley."
She looked up at him when he stepped back, for once not put out. They were only joking with each other, and as much as she wished she could stay in his arms, this was fun.
"Exactly what would you do? Why should I be scared?"

He smiled at her outraged tone. "Yes, you are strong, my love. I don't think I have ever seen you give up, or back down. Even when you probably should," he finished, tapping his finger to her nose, knowing what her reaction would be.
When she spoke so confidently about how things would work out, his own confidence grew. "I will never give up on that, Marian. Never. One day it will be you and I, living there together." It had always been that way. Her strength gave him strength.
"I do not know. But I know it will be something extremely sneaky and very wicked. You will have to watch your back, my lovely lady." He laughed, pulling her close again. "Do not worry. I will not seek my revenge today."

She automatically wrinkled up her nose when he tapped it, giggling a little and batting his hand away. He seemed to have a fondness of doing that, had done since they were little.
Then he was talking of their future, the future they hoped for as children and still hoped for now. Nodding, she grinned up at him. She wanted that life so much, and would never give up on it. She was determined that they would get that life, Robin deserved it.
"As it should be."
Marian grinned at his next words, allowing him to pull her close again. She kept her eyes on him, her eyes sparkling as she looked up at him. Slowly, so he didn't notice her intention, she hit him with the bow again.
"You have no idea what you would do, otherwise you would carry it out already. Is my Lord already losing his ability to come up with ideas?"

He grinned when she knocked his hand away, knowing that was exactly how she would react.
"Maybe not as it should be, but certainly how I want it to be." He rocked her in his arms, completely content just having her so close.
"I always have ideas, and you know that all too well. You are just in denial because you fear them so."

"How I want it to be too," she said with a grin.
She could not help it, and her bow hit him again, slightly harder but not enough to hurt. Smirking, she looked up at him. She could not help the cheeky glint in her eye.
"I have never been afraid of you or your ideas. You are far from frightening."

Robin could never admit it, not even to Marian, but the future terrified him. The thought that everyhing might go the wrong way, the thought that all his fighting, all he had given up had been for nothing.
He pulled forward, away from the hit of her bow, laughing. "I am not frightening? Not at all? Well, that is certainly depressing news," he said, his tone light.
