"If you rarely sleep, perhaps I should be the one who should be on guard. After all, who knows what an outlaw is capable of whilst a noble sleeps," she replied with her eyebrow raised, but her tone clearly showed that she was kidding.
She really wanted to comment on the fact that he said he rarely slept, thinking it must have something to do with whatever had woke him up earlier when they had fallen asleep. But she knew he would just ignore any questions.
"Oh I could not possibly give away my training methods, Robin. You would be able to prepare yourself more."

Robin nodded, mock sincerity on his face. "You are wise to be wary of the outlaw who prays on the sleeping noble, Marian. Very sneaky."
Robin laughed when she spoke of 'training methods'. "I highly doubt anything you told me could fully prepare me for the wrath of Marian. If I do sleep, it shall be with one eye open, I assure you."
Robin glanced to the water where Marian had so recently been. "And did you enjoy your bath, before I was so rude as to interrupt it?" He was smirking again, wanting their silly banter to continue.

"Of course I am right to be worried. Who knows what an outlaw is capable of doing to a noble, the thought is terrifying."
Marian grinned at his comment on her training method, nodding in agreement. She liked moments like these, she felt like they were young and carefree again.
"You are best to do so, otherwise you do not know when I will catch you off guard."
She rolled her eyes at his comment about her cleaning out her wound. It wasn't exactly a bath, it was just her preventing any infections into the wound. But of course, that did not mean she could not play along.
"Very much so. It was nice to be away from the roughness of the camp, away from so many outlaws."

"You should be terrified Marian. Outlaws are dangerous folk. And of course, the crazy ones only really come out at night."
Robin wondered if there had ever been a time when they had not bickered and teased and played jokes on each other. It came to them so naturally, in the same way that it seemed so natural when they quarrelled over the serious matters.
"Roughness of camp? So many outlaws? Well, this particular outlaw knows when he is not wanted." Crossing his arms, Robin turned his back to her, barely able to keep from laughing at the ridiculousness of the situation.

Marian tried not to laugh when he turned his back on her, deciding to play along. She certainly wasn't going to plead with him, make him realise she didn't mind this particular outlaw. Especially when they were teasing one another in a way they did when she was a young teenager.
"That is much appreciated, I do not think I could stand to look at you for another moment."
She tried to sound as serious as she could, before stepping back, trying very hard to keep the wide grin from her face. After all, the teasing would not work as well.
"Now, perhaps I should see where my horse is, since this particular outlaw realises it is not him I wish to see."

Robin spun back to face her, pretending to be outraged.
"Oh, so now the truth is revealed. You would rather spend time with a horse than with me. It is probably a good thing I do not put any effort into pleasing you, Marian."
Putting a hand to his chin, feigning thoughtfulness, Robin continued. "Perhaps if I was to behave more like an animal...roll around in the dirt perhaps? Then no doubt I would appeal to you much more."

"Well horses are far more beautiful than you..."
At his next comment, she could no longer hold it in. The image was in her head, so vividly, and she could not stop the laughter. She stopped walking back, staring at him for a moment as she tried to contain it, and failed horribly. Bursting into laughter, she shook her head at him.
"Robin don't be so stupid!"
She wondered if he could actually make out what she had said through her laughter, a laugh she had not been able to release for years. She truly was very happy, and was glad it was Robin making her feel such a way.

When Marian began laughing that way, Robin could not help but join in, shaking his head at her when she said he was stupid.
"Me? Marian, you are the one ready to profess your undying love to a horse!" At this, his laughter started anew, and it took a good few minutes before he was able to stop.
"The last time I saw you laugh like that was...a long time ago, Marian. In fact, it might just have been my fault the last time too. I seem to recall I discovered you were rather ticklish..." He looked her in the eye then, a wicked, rather sneaky look on his face.

Marian couldn't stop her laughter after he spoke about her undying love for a horse. However, he laughter soon stopped when he mentioned something they had discovered when she was a young age. He had always used that fact against her, using it to win fights or to try and make her cheer up.
"I believe you're mistaken," she said, though found herself backing away from him.
She had to be ready to run, she knew that he would not listen to what she said. She began looking for escape routes, noting a few gaps in trees where she could run, but did not make it too obvious that she was looking for such a thing.

Robin smirked, very slowly taking a few steps in her direction. "You look worried, Marian. Why are you backing away like that?"
He could see her casting her eyes about, and continued moving slowly towards her, ready to run if she did. This had always been one of his favourite games, when they were younger. 'Tickle Marian mercilessly until she admitted defeat, or gave him what he wanted'.
It felt good to laugh and carry on as children, it was so easy to forget everything else.

"I'm not," she said in defense to him commenting on her backing away, as he too began to walk only towards her.
The closer he got, the more nervous and childish she became, and when it was looking like he would not give in, she set off at a run, even though she knew he could easily out run her. She dodged trees, trying to find anywhere she could go to get away from him, all the time trying to keep her laughter in.
Not once did she look back to see how close he was getting. That would just make her loose her footing, or have to give in. So she kept going, hoping he was a safe distance away.

When she finally gave in pretending and ran, Robin immediately followed. He could not help but laugh at her. Fierce fighter running from the threat of tickles.
As she dodged trees and skidded around corners, Robin changed tactics, seeing that she was not looking back. Changing direction slightly, Robin picked up speed until he was able to pause behind a large oak.
If he was right, she was about to burst out of the trees, and he would be standing directly in her path.

Marian kept on running until she came to a clearing, surrounded by larger trees. She was slightly worried, she'd never been to this part of the forest before. Taking deep breaths to calm her slightly heavy breathing, she turned to look if he was catching up with her. Frowning, she realised he wasn't even running anymore, she couldn't hear any twigs breaking or anything. Of course, she knew he probably knew how to move about the forest without attracting attention.
Which meant he could be close by and she didn't know.
She stood for a few more seconds, before looking around. There had to be a way for her to run, without getting more lost than she currently was.

Robin laughed quietly to himself, watching her look back over her shoulder. Once she was facing forward again, he crept up behind her, walking on the toes of his boots, avoiding any leaves or twigs which might give him away. If anyone could see what was unfolding, the whole scene would have looked utterly ridiculous.
Standing a single step behind her, Robin waited with a grin on his face, to see how long it would take her to notice his presence.

After a moment, Marian could feel that tingling feeling of being watched. Frowning, she glanced deeper into the woods, trying to see if they were close by. Turning, she was met by Robin, and she couldn't help the scream. Standing back, her hand on her heart as if to calm it, she glared at Robin.
"Don't do that!"
She dropped her hand, stepping forward to hit him on his arm. She didn't want to injure him, not yet anyway. But worrying about being watched by someone who turned out to be Robin, she forgot exactly why she had been running away in the first place.
