Marian ignored Robin's teasing comments, deciding to tell him that she didn't appreciate them when they were alone. Grabbing the dress from him when it was offered, she made no effort to thank him. After all, if he wasn't being polite, other than doing his best to cover her, then she felt no obligation to be polite back.
Pulling on her dress, she left the ties a lot less tighter than before, knowing that she would have to undo it again when she went to the stream. As she tied it, she made sure to glare at Robin every time he turned to her, letting him know she wasn't impressed. At least Will knew how to be a gentleman.
"Yes, it's fine Will. I appreciate your actions," she said with a smile, talking about him turning his back. After all, it only made her feel worse being caught in such a situation, but at least it was Will, who was slightly more well behaved than the other men in this camp she often thought.

Will thought that he had never seen two people more in love who sniped at each other constantly. Robin was clearly enjoying himself, but Marian was not. But the thing she seemed to hatre the most was the level of entertainment that Robin was getting out of her predicament.
Some of the glares she was giving Robin were absolutely frightful, Will thought. Will was happy to turn around, both to give Marian some much-needed privacy and to not have to witness that withering glare that she was so capable of. Will knew that she was, more or less, a part of the gang now, but he still found it hard to get used to.
"Thank you .... Lady Marian .... Marian. It was understandable that you would want some privacy and I was more than happy to provide it," as he turned around, and was glad to see her fully dressed again, and even better, with a smile on her face.

Robin could not help but scoff at Will's words. Truth be told he was feeling a bit sulky because Marian was suddenly not paying him any attention, but really...was Will trying to earn points as some kind of noble gentleman? In his own opinion, Robin had far too recently made a fool of himself in front of Marian. He hardly needed more confirmation from her regarding her opinion of him
"And I was happy to provide it?" He copied Will's earlier words in a mocking tone.
Getting to his feet, Robin picked up his sword from where it lay. "Perhaps I should leave you two alone to be proper and...boring, together."

"And I was happy to provide it?," mocked Robin. "Perhaps I should leave you two alone to be proper and...boring, together."
Will instantly had several reactions to Robin's patronizing remarks. First, he felt like he had stumbled into one of their legendary tiffs, and wanted to be anyplace other than where he was. His next was turn a light shade of red wen the implication of his words hit home. In short order that turned to anger.
When will went into angry mode the only way one could normally tell was the burning intensity in his eyes. When they were young Will had always been jealous of the older Robin, and his relationship with Marian. In fact, young Will had had a crush on young Marian. But basically whenever he saw fit the young noble could sweep in and get what he wanted. So even though Robin made friends of everyone, Will had had a love-hate relationship with Robin, although Robin may not have been aware of it.
When Robin went off to the Crusades Will looked at it as both abandoning Marian and the village of Locksley. The starvation that ensued and the resulting death of his mother, in the back of WIll's mind, he laid at Robin's door. When Robin came back, Will tried to stay distant, but Robin's actions in saving his life from the gallows and fighting for the poor and the people of the shire caused Will to put those feelings aside.
Robin's sarcastic remarks about Will and Marian just caused those old feelings to bubble up again, and Will was seething. When Will got angry he tended not to talk, to go silent. He purposefully turned around, picked up his wood, and headed back to camp, but not before saying "Sorry .... I didn't remember what my proper place was .... my lord."

As soon as Will started to leave, Robin spoke, his words over the top of Will's, asking him not to leave.
Then he realised how Will had addressed him, and raised an eyebrow in confusion. Honestly, this was getting ridiculous. Was making people mad going to be his special skill for today? Since when had Will used that title with him, and in such a sarcastic manner.
"Would you care to explain that one, Will?" His tone was even, but firm. He was hardly going to let Will walk away from that one. He had not done anything wrong, and now Will was acting as if he had gone and stolen his axe, or something.

Will thought that he had heard Robin say something, but he couldn't pick it up over his cutting quote. If it was that important, he had no doubt that Robin would repeat it. For a few moments, though, he wasn't sure if Robin had heard him, and if he had, whether it registered. It was clear, momentarily, that he heard and it had registered, as it was meant to.As soon as Will started to leave, Robin spoke, his words over the top of Will's, asking him not to leave.
"Would you care to explain that one, Will?," Robin said firmly. His tone was even, but firm.
Will stopped and let out a long sigh. He turned briefly and said, "No sir, I would not care to. If I have to explain what that means its probably a waste of time and energy anyway. My apologies though ..... I'll make a point in the future not to stick my nose into the personal business of others, especially when its my betters. As I said .... I forgot my pace ... it won't h appen again." He turned with his load back toward camp, not bothhering to wait for a reply.

Robin was surprised his mouth didn't fall open in shock. What on earth was Will on about?
"Honestly, Will, I have no idea what you are talking about. Where has this sudden hostility come from?"
Pausing for a moment, Robin sighed, suddenly realising this had to do with more than just this evenings events. "Maybe it is time you and I had a proper conversation then, Will."
He only hoped Marian didn't decide to think even less of him after all this than she already must, after hurting her as he had.

That was just like Robin, Will thought as he continued to walk away back toward camp. Will had always reckoned that Robs was not a bad sort, in fact he was a good sort. But Robin could run his mouth off about something, and not know the effect it had, and then when someone reacted to it it was like he didn't know what the problem was.
There was just no point to talking about it, because Robs would never change. "Don't worry yourself about it Robin," he called back. "Why don't you stick to people and things that are important .... like Marian is .... to you." And Will continued back to the camp, where he set down his load, picked up a few tools, as well as his weapons, stuffed some food in a sack, and prepared to go for walk in the Forest.

Marian kept her mouth quiet, not wanting to add to anything, instead focusing on the surroundings. As Will made to walk off, Marian stepped up to Robin, touching him lightly on his back.
"Go talk to him. You can not afford to loose your men."
After all, Robin needed them, she knew that. And clearly something was wrong that Will would not mention in front of her, she knew that men often hated talking of their thoughts with a woman present.
"I'll head to that stream, clean up the dried blood. Do not leave him until you have resolved what is wrong."

Seeing Will was obviously more than a little frustrated, Robin decided he could not let this go. Marian was right. Again.
"Will you be alright finding your way, Marian?" Shaking his head and not waiting for her no doubt biting reply, Robin sighed. "Of course you will."
Heading after Will, Robin pondered what had happened. Will's anger was so strong. Was this about him leaving, again? Why did it always come back to that? He had already admitted to Marian it was a mistake for him to leave, and yet did they not see he had had no choice? Did they not see he had gone seeking to do the right thing?
