Luke had always liked churches for some odd reason, and the chapel in Nottingham town centre was no exception. He guessed, at a push, he liked the quietness and the isolation of such places, and whilst that had never been something he had sought in his younger years being as he loved being around his brother and his friends, it was certainly something that he had wanted ever since he was really quite alone. His father and mother dead, and Will always off in the forest or on some daring mission meant that he didn’t have any family there to look out for him like they had used to, and in a lot of ways he was a lot more independent since that had happened. Perhaps it served him right considering he always went on and on about how much he wanted to be treated like an adult and left to do his own thing, but he had never actually meant it. It was a sore loss really that there was no one anymore to talk to on a regular basis, but he made do as best as he could.
The sun starting to set, it would probably be best to get on with what he had came there to do, but he had no desire to do it before night fall. Perhaps it was an odd tradition that he only ever prayed after sunlight had died down. He just reckoned that there was more of a chance his words would be heard if it happened at night, for he doubted many people did it then being as they would be far too busy eating, resting and preparing for what hard day would become of them tomorrow. His prayers were never answered of course, but one day he knew that they would be. After all, he did pray every day for the same thing so it seemed very unlikely that God would choose to ignore them, if they had been said so very often.
Easing into the hard wooden chair, he glanced at the door to see if anyone was coming in. There was usually an older gentleman who came in at around the same time, mumbling something about how he wished that his crops would grow more bountifully or something of that sort. Choosing to not take much notice of him out if respect, he didn’t actually know why he came to such a great degree, just like he hoped he didn’t know what he was praying for. After all, he’d most likely be hung or something if he did and after coming close to meeting that fate once, he couldn’t say he wanted that to happen again.
Luke looked round once more, seeing the door open. However, it wasn’t the form of the old man who emerged into the chapel.

Anabelle set of from her house to go to the Chapel. Her father had taken ill, having not eaten well because of the lack of food and so she thought going to the chapel to pray for him may do some good. She enjoyed going to the chapel, it was very peaceful, and it was not often she got peace, as Guy of Gisborne was always pestering the villagers of Locksley.
She was humming a pretty little tune as she walked, people kind of looked at her weird, but she cared not, despite her father being in a bad way she was in a rather good mood. She decided to have a little walk before heading straight to the chapel. She sat by the fountain for a while catching the little sun on her face. Her humming got louder and louder until it turned into quiet singing. She was in a world of her own, not taking any notice of the passers by.
Anabelle soon realized that she had been sitting down for a very long time, she got up and strolled towards the chapel. She struggled to get the large door open at first but gave it a big push and it slowly creaked open. She looked around the chapel, it was rather empty except one very recognizable face. It was the younger brother of her childhood friend Will Scarlett. She smiled sweetly at him. He was, from what she remembered, a very lovely boy. What could he need to pray about? Hopefully it was just his weekly prayer.
"Why hello Luke. I was not expecting to meet you here. It has been a rather long time since our last meeting. How is your brother?"
Anabelle asked him shyly about his brother, hoping he would not notice her cheeks filling with redness. She sat down next to where he was sitting and tried to hide her cheeks with her hair

Luke smiled at the girl who walked in, knowing her face instantly from his childhood. She had been a good friend of Will, and that meant that they had conversed a few times with each other. Of course, she would have known Will far better than she did him, but then again he was usually not very far from his brother’s side so it was possible that she knew him pretty well too.
From what he could remember, as the last time he had ever really saw her was when he was pretty young, she was a very kind person, but then he thought everyone was kind at that age. So, perhaps he didn’t know her too well, and her personality could have transformed dramatically anyway, but it was still nice to see an old face from his younger years, being as they were running a bit thin at that time. Will was still around of course, but since he didn’t know where many of his own childhood friends were, he was just glad to see any familiar face at all.
Laughing a little at how shy she seemed to be on the topic of Will, he couldn’t help but notice that she was starting to go a little red in the cheeks on the subject of his brother. He could only presume that she fancied him a little, but he wouldn’t mention it of course. It was not his place to start saying things like that, and he was sure that she would be all too embarrassed for him to say things like that. Being as he wasn’t one to embarrass people intentionally, he would just let it slip as that was the nice thing to do. Not that he was ridiculously nice by any means, but in most circumstances he was.
‘’Will’s fine. He is doing good actually. He’s made some new friends and stuff, but they are all really friendly and... heroic I suppose’’ he answered, making sure that he didn’t mention the fact that he perhaps was not fine due to their father’s death and that he was now an outlaw fighting the sheriff. He didn’t know enough about the girl to know that he could trust her with information about being an outlaw, and secrets were better kept hidden anyway.
Remembering his manners, he smiled when she sat down. ‘’Sorry, I mean hello Anabelle. He’s fine. I sometimes forget the hello’’ he added, turning a bit red himself. ‘’How are you anyway? I’m sure you are leading a very interesting life indeed.’’

’Will’s fine. He is doing good actually. He’s made some new friends and stuff, but they are all really friendly and... heroic I suppose’’
"Ahh yes, I have not had the chance to to speak with Will for quite some time. My dear friend Anya, I don't know if you would remember her or not, she lived in our village. Well I suppose you could say she...lives...with them."
Anabelle was not all that sure if Luke knew that Will was part of the outlaw, even though he was his brother. She did not want to get Will into trouble. She could tell that Luke was hiding something as well, he soon made it rather obvious that he did know and he was not sure either if Anabelle knew.
She stood up and walked over to a nearby stool that had a rare bible on it. She picked up and brought it over to where she was sitting with Luke. She was not the best at reading. She attempted to read it and look interested but most of the words were very long and confusing. She was wearing her best clothes, a lovely beige gown with a thin white shawl sprawled over her shoulders. She was also wearing her favourite white veil like hat.
"How are you anyway? I’m sure you are leading a very interesting life indeed.’’
She felt like he had asked this as though he was jealous, and he had not led an interesting life at all. She knew that as Will was one of the outlaws he probably did not see his brother very often so Luke must have been very lonely at times.
"Oh, my life, it is okay. I must admit it is rather boring. Ever since Anya and Will moved away I haven't many friends living nearby."

Considering for a moment what it was that she was saying, he decided that he wouldn’t make his answer too obvious as to the fact that Will was an outlaw, even if it did seem very obvious indeed that she knew of his rather illegal activities considering she knew someone who lived with them. Unless, of course, it was some kind of trick in which case he would make sure he was not caught out.
‘’I apologise, but I do not seem to recall an Anya too well. Most likely in the flesh I would know her of course, but at the moment I have no idea’’ he said, smiling uneasily. He was a rather poor liar, and so he was not looking forward to lying next about his brother. However, some things just had to be done and that was one of them. ‘’Oh, I see. She lives with them. I never knew he lived with any girls. I just thought he knew a bunch of carpenters.’’
His cheeks soon turned a dark shade of red, as she went to go and get a bible that he had seen sitting on a stool ever since he had started coming to the chapel. He had never felt the urge to go and read it of course, for he had no idea whatsoever what most of the words meant or how to read them. When she came back, he averted his gaze to the floor which was perhaps a sure sign that he had been telling lies, but he could only hope that she would not notice it.
Nodding his head in understanding, he knew what it felt like to lose everyone that you had known in your childhood, only to be left alone and barely ever contacted. Despite how much he loved Will, it wouldn’t have hurt him to go and speak to him more often being as he was his only living relative now who he had ever truly known. However, he didn’t complain too much as ... well, there was no one he could actually complain to.
‘’I know what that feels like. I don’t actually have any friends now that Will has decided to go and live with other people, and I’m on my own at the moment. However, I’m sure that I will meet some very good friends soon. Maybe I will even see this Anya... being as she is living with them.’’

"I see, I guess we are both rather lonely these days. Maybe we could meet up again next week, here?"
Anabelle wanted to seem as though she was reading the bible and understanding it entirely. She was showing off, she liked to show people she was able to read, it made her look very intelligent. She could see out the corner that Luke was going red. It seemed they were both rather embarrassed today. He also looked rather uninterested in her reading, so she stopped and placed the book on the back of the pew in front of her.
"Yes, she is only a new member of Robins gang though..."
Anabelle slapped her hand to her mouth. She had spilled the secret that would be so dangerous if said to the wrong person. Hopefully Luke already knew, it looked like he did, but if she was wrong she could be in big trouble. She stood up and was about to walk away because she was so embarrassed, but she turned back after her cheeks had cooled down.
"Umm, and by that I mean Robin of Yorks.....Acting Gang. They have recently been ehh practicing a play about love...love between...Plato and Aristotle..yes thats it, it is a lovely play. A very Tragic Love story in the end someone dies, very gruesome...i daresay i will see it, far too ghastly for such a young mind as my own."
Anabelle said, trying to cover up her big mistake. It was obvious what she had meant by Robins Gang and she felt completely Idiotic to have tried to cover it up, especially in such a stupid way. She could not quite remember where she had heard the names Aristotle and Plato. She always rambled and could never stop herself, she was a terrible liar. She sat back down and couldn't help but let out a small giggle. She was never very good at keeping secrets. It would be awful if Luke did no know, Will would never forgive her.
She lifted up the book again and carried on attempting to read. Trying to make it look as though she was serious about the acting group. She looked up at Luke and just gave him a little look as if to say that she was indeed telling the truth, although she obviously was not.

Luke raised a tilted eyebrow at her as she said that they were both lonely and wanted to meet up with him again. No one ever wanted to meet up with him being as well, his friends were Will’s friends and they always wanted to see him more than they wanted to see his brother. It was just the way of things he guessed. Will was the older one, and thus the more exciting one who could do things. Also, he wasn’t really clumsy either which probably helped things a great deal as no one wanted their toes stepped on and the like. However, he was rather pleased with the fact she wanted to see him again, for at least that showed he had done something right in the conversation.
‘’I’d be very grateful to see you again actually. If you like, you can come and see me at the Inn I am staying at too. It’s the one sort of south from here and looks pretty rubbish, but it’s alright, you know. Good enough for me at the very least.’’
His expression soon changed however from one of gratefulness, to one of that which was very eager. Could she really mean Robin’s gang? The one in which he prayed all the time to become part of, and slay the man who had pretty much ruined his family home. After all, he killed his parents and his brother was away just to fight him. If she had a friend in his gang, then that would be pretty good for him being as hopefully he could persuade this Anya to put in a good word for him. However, he decided not to mention it before she had said something else, being as he didn’t want to say he knew about the gang immediately just in case it was just a trick.
Rooted in his seat as she walked away and then came back, he listened to her frankly rather strange come back to explain way what this Robin’s gang was. It was because of this, that he knew very well that she was not telling anything but the truth as she would not try and cover up her tracks if she was attempting a trick after all. No, he was sure that her friend was indeed part of Robin’s gang and that was a very exciting prospect indeed.
‘’As much as that play sounds absolutely riveting, you do not need to lie for me. I know what you mean by Robin’s gang, and that is a great thing that she is part of all that. I’m hoping to become an outlaw myself actually, being as my brother is there. I reckon it would be good for me, you know. Fighting the sheriff and being all heroic and stuff. I reckon it’d suit me’’ he told her, with childish enthusiasm on the subject.
Laughing at the look he received as she carried on reading the book, he smiled at her to show that she could be completely honest with him on such matters as Robin and his gang. It was all fine with him after all, and he preferred if people didn’t lie anyway. They were in a church, and so such things were a bit wrong to be doing in such places.

Anabelle could not help but feel quite excited to finally have a friend that is not living in the forest. Hopefully they would see each other more often that she sees Anya. She wasn't completely sure where the Inn that Luke spoke about was. Nottingham wasn't the most familiar place to Anabelle, she often found herself in the wrong place. She smiled showing her glowing white teeth and nodded her head.
"The Inn, of course. I don't think i quite know where it is actually. Maybe you could show me? "
'As much as that play sounds absolutely riveting, you do not need to lie for me.'
Her teeth still showing, she heard from him that he knew her friend was part of robins outlawed gang. She stopped smiling. She felt extremely silly to have gone through all the trouble to make up such a long and simply awful lie. She did not go as brightly red like she had been when she had been previously embarrassed at things that were not as shameful.
'I’m hoping to become an outlaw myself actually, being as my brother is there. I reckon it would be good for me, you know. Fighting the sheriff and being all heroic and stuff. I reckon it’d suit me'
Anabelle held in a laugh that was on the urge of bursting out. Apart from probably making Luke feel awkward if she laughed, she did not want to disturb the few other people in the church. Was he now trying to act brave and make himself look strong? He could have just been joking though. She felt like the were both trying to hard to look amazing. She calmed herself down and tried to act normal.
"Yes, i suppose you could be a good outlaw, but Will be very protective over you out there in the forest would he not? He would be too scared to let you fight.

Nodding, he wouldn’t mind of course giving her some directions and he did actually feel like he knew Nottingham pretty well now. Despite coming from Locksley and only been living in Nottingham for a week or two, he did know all of the various twists and turns of the streets, and also the areas that should have been stuck clear of in all possible ways. With his brother constantly up to saving the poor people, and not having many other friends, he’d been rather bored and so had took to looking for all the various areas and exploring the place. Therefore, he guessed his knowledge was rather good now about Nottingham.
‘’It’ll be my pleasure to show you where it is and I promise I shall look after you as well. When I said that place is rather good for me, well, it might not be too good for a young lady. However, I make do with what I can get my hands on and don’t really whinge about it to be honest. There’d be no point and one of the rougher patrons of the Inn may smack me or something.’’
However, her mentioning Will not wanting him to be an outlaw put him in a much darker mood than before. He had been pretty happy with her showing that she wanted to be his friend and stuff, but then why did she have to bring up Will? His life didn’t revolve around his brother’s wants and needs being as he was old enough to make his own decisions. He was a sixteen year old after all, and most of them didn’t have their older brother’s wrapping them up in cotton wool.
‘’I don’t care if he would be too scared to let me fight or not. He needs to realise that I’m not a little baby anymore and I can fight just as well as he can if I was given the chance to train and prove myself. I could be a really brilliant outlaw and I think he knows it. Yeah, I bet he does. I reckon he is jealous...’’
Catching his breath after shooting his mouth off a little, he shifted uneasily in his seat. It was rather embarrassing to go on like that in front of someone who was a stranger, but sometimes he couldn’t help himself. For as much as he liked keeping his feelings secret, sometimes he couldn’t control his mouth from getting slightly carried away.
‘’Forgive me Anabelle. I doubted you wanted to hear that...’’ he said sheepishly, looking at her slightly from the corner of his eye.

Anabelle was really happy that Luke was concerned about her well being, but it seemed weird as he is a bit younger than she is. She thought that maybe he was trying to act like Will. He probably knew that Anabelle had a crush on him and thought maybe if he was more like Will he could possibly have a crush on him too. He had spoken to her as if she was incapable of taking care of herself, but she was not going to take it to heart. "I thank you for your kindness, though if i was in such a situation on my own, I am sure I would be more than capable of taking care of myself, but I am more than happy for you to watch out for me"She looked at him and gave a little teasing smile and looked away again. He was only trying to be nice, so she just went along with it. She did not want to admit that she was in fact a little scared to be going to the Inn after how Luke had described it. She now imagined it to be a very scary place and she maybe did need taking care of after all. When Luke mentioned that he thought Will was jealous of him, Anabelle could not help but feel like laughing once more. Luke was very sweet, he kept acting very tough. Maybe he was tough though, Anabelle just had not seen it yet. She kind of hoped he was stronger than he looked as if anything did happen to go wrong at the Inn, she definitely need assistance. "I guess there is that possibility that Will is jealous"Anabelle just wanted to agree with Luke, as it seemed they were getting along rather well and she did not want to make it weird, but she was finding it a bit strange how much Luke was talking about his brother, even though Anabelle also spoke of him often, Could Luke be the one jealous of Will, and he is just covering up by saying the opposite. "Or maybe, you are in fact jealous of your dear brother William?" [sorry...crap post.....i had a better one but i deleted it by mistake ]

Raising an eyebrow at her words, he considered whether she really would be able to look after herself in a place like that. He was by no means sexist, but women were definitely the weaker sex and that was just fact. They couldn’t defend themselves like a man could, just like they couldn’t carry heavy loads when working and other similar things. That was why he would have to look after Anabelle, and he would make sure he would. After all, he wouldn’t make a good outlaw if he couldn’t even look after one woman. ‘’Yeah, but I will be an outlaw in training soon so you will help me out if you don’t try fighting with a sword or anything. I need to prove to them that I can look after innocent women and stuff, and you looking after yourself won’t look too good on me. Besides, I’m strong so I am sure I will keep you safe really well.’’Luke looked at her as if she had just stepped on his toe when she said there was only a possibility of him being jealous. After all, it was an irritant but not something that truly pained him in the slightest. He would have liked to have heard her say that he was most certainly jealous of his obviously untapped talents being as she seemed to know him so well, but no one thought he was capable so he wasn’t surprised she didn’t say at the same time. However, he didn’t want to admit openly that he himself didn’t exactly think Will was jealous, and in fact he was probably a far better addition to that team. After all, he was a far better carpenter than he could ever hope to be, and he was older, taller and presumably more talented at fighting. He would keep things such as those to himself being as that was what he always did. Especially n matters concerning his family, he wouldn’t let out his true emotions easily. When she said though that there was a possibility he was jealous, he couldn’t help but blushing suddenly. And that perhaps revealed his true feelings on the matter rather well. He hated displaying his emotions on his sleeve like that, but as a natural reflex, he couldn’t help himself evidently. However, he just wondered why on earth she thought that, as he didn’t think he had made it too obvious. ‘’I think that is a very farfetched idea Anabelle, no offence of course. I mean, why do you say that? I love my brother to bits, but I do not envy him.’’(OOC: I thought it was a good post anyway.

"Luke, I think you would be better off staying here in Nottingham, or finding a home in another village. Living in the forest could seriously go wrong!"
Anabelle did not want her recently made friend to leave, when Anya left her she was devastated. Living in the forest, fighting all the time, hardly ever getting to wash, it was not good for people. Anabelle would probably go crazy living in that kind of enviroment. She glanced up from staring at her lap to Luke's face and tried to make a convincing 'don't go' face. She was not sure that she had made it very convincing though.
"I am sure you will take care of me well, but again, I am capable"
Anabelle saw the way that he looked at her when she said that Will only might be jealous. She felt bad, he was obviously quite a sensitive boy, or so she thought he kind of acted as if could be. She put her hand on his shoulder and apologized in a sort of jokey way.
"I am ever so sorry, please take no offense"
Luke was embarrassed that Anabelle had suggested that he was jealous of Will and Anabelle could tell even if he tried to deny it, and he did. She just let him deny it though. She just agreed with him and tried to change the subject as she had began to get bored of talking about the outlaws. She would much prefer talking about something like clothes and jewelery, but he was a boy, he was unlikely to enjoy that kind of conversation. She said the first thing that came into her head.
"Can you sing?"

Luke shot a half cocky smile to her, although it was one which was fake. He appreciated the fact that she didn’t want him to leave, but he knew he had to. Of course, he couldn’t actually explain why he needed to be an outlaw, as that was getting far too deep into the secrets of his past and what had happened. Whilst he trusted Anabelle now, he never was one to go bleating on about the reasons behind his decisions and what had happened to him in the past. That was just... him.
‘’I’m sure that life in the forest will be great. Who knows, perhaps you would even like it if you gave it a try? The feeling of helping people out and stuff would just be absolutely incredible I reckon, I really do. Of course, I have better reasons than that but You would be bored by them.’’
Looking down at her hand as she placed it on him, and hearing the apology he smiled dismissively at the jokey way in which she did it and nodded his head in agreement. ‘’Thanks... I guess’’ he hesitantly replied, not really caring if he was honest that she didn’t think Will was jealous and the fact he was most likely the one suffering from envy himself. He was embarrassed of course, but then most lads his age would probably be if people thought they were jealous of their big brothers.
‘’What?’’ Luke then asked as she said most likely the random thing that he had ever heard in his life. Why would anyone ask him if he could sing? Truth be told, he didn’t actually know if he could or not being as he had never sung in front of anyone and he wasn’t sure what constituted bad and good singing in the grand scheme of things. Most likely, he would be rather bad being as he had never practised before but then he may have been a rare talent. He smirked at the thought.
‘’I don’t know... No one has ever said anything. Did you want me to sing a few notes or something to see if I can?’’

Anabelle sighed. She thought Luke should probably stop trying to become an outlaw as his brother would most likely never allow it, besides, this was the first friend she had made for a while. Most of the people that she had been friends with had moved away to other villages or were working far away. She had finally made a friend another friend, but she was going to lose him, just like she lost her previous two best friends, it seemed that she had bad luck with friends.
"I suppose it would be great, if you don't mind smelling like a pigs behind."
Anabelle let out a small giggle and covered her mouth with her small hand, she remembered that last time she saw Anya, she was smelling absolutely terrible. You could almost see the stink waves coming off her, it was not a good look at all. Especially for a girl of her beauty, nor for a boy with such a fresh face like Luke.
She pretended not to notice that Luke knew her apology was a joke, as she had not intentionally done it, it just came out. She quickly muttered under her breath another apology, just enough for Luke to hear it.
"Do tell me, I have plenty of time....Oh wait, I am ever so sorry I will have to run soon as I have to meet my father somewhere. We should try and meet up again soon though, I would love to go on a nice long walk with you. Walks are so refreshing and lovely, do you not agree?"
Anabelle realized the time but decided to stay for a few more minutes to chat a little longer, she wanted to convince Luke to stay in Nottingham, or even maybe come back to Locksley. He was perfectly welcome to come stay at hers for a few nights if he had to, but Anabelle was far to shy to invite him just yet, after all they barely knew each other.
Anabelle stood up getting ready to leave, she untied her loosely tied hat and tied it back again tighter under her chin. She thought it was rather funny that Luke had offered to sing a for her, she was only joking, but he had still offered. He might have been joking too though.
"I would not mind hearing you sing, I am sure you have a lovely voice. It is a great hobby of mine, singing. Maybe when I visit you again you can show me, as I really do need be getting to my father.."

Luke laughed at her words, but then considered it some more. Would he really like to smell like they did? When he had journeyed to the camp all that time ago, the stench was fairly overwhelming and he was shocked about just how dirty they really did look. It kind of took away from the whole handsome, heroic justice fighter image that he was sure Will would have had. Sometimes, whilst he was away in Scarborough, it was all that comforted him about losing his brother like that.
However, he supposed that he didn’t mind stinking that much if it meant that he was put there, fighting the man who killed his mom and dad. After all, it wasn’t like he smelt great anyway being as his self hygiene wasn’t brilliant being as he came from a poor family and now he had no reason to really wash. It wasn’t like he had his eye on any girls or anything, and so making himself look clean and tidy seemed rather pointless when only rough men from an Inn ever saw him in any great detail and regularly.
‘’Well, I don’t smell great now do I? So, I guess it shan’t matter too much to me if I smell like a pig, although I reckon they smell more like mud and sweaty armpits. Either way, it isn’t too pleasant I reckon.’’
Dismissing the apology, he breathed a deep sigh of relief when she changed the subject onto walks as opposed to why he wanted to do things. Even if it was the simplest of matters, which becoming an outlaw wasn’t, he never would want to just openly explain his reasons to anyone. They meant too much to him anyway, and he doubted he would even go into too much detail about them to Will or Robin.
‘’Yeah, they are great. I’d love to go on a walk with you, maybe in Sherwood or something. I find that place soothing and comforting at times. Just the seclusion of it and stuff you know. It’s nice to get a bit of time to just think when it is quiet, without hearing drunken underneath your room. Maybe that is just me however, and the wonders of where I happen to live at the moment.’’
Really, he was sad to see her go but he didn’t want to mention his feelings on that, just in case he came across as some needy little kid who wanted her to stay behind with him because he had no one else to talk to. However, he actually was very much enjoying a new found friend to talk to, and he just hoped that she realised that. After all, it had been far too long since he had really ran into anyone who he could even remotely call a friend.
Standing up whilst listening to her words, he smiled a little when she said she was sure he had a lovely voice. He doubted that very much, but he soon cast that to one side when she mentioned her father again. Maybe she needed some help with him or something or was just visiting him. Either way though, Luke wouldn’t have minded helping out in any way possible.
‘’Did you need any help? With your father and stuff I mean. I could sing to you on the way to him if you liked. I have very little to do today, so I could always come along should you need anything you see.’’
