Upon finishing dinner and serving the wide array of fresh vegetables to her father, Abigail had decided that she wanted nothing more than to enjoy the sun and all the graces it offered to her. It brought a fitting good mood to her, and she liked the feel of that mood as it lifted her optimistic views to their peak.
Her sweet smile bore down at her father as she awaited for sleep to befall him so she could sneak out ever-so-quietly through the creaking front door and go somewhere where she could perhaps lose her thoughts in a story or imagine herself being on some imaginative journey, since of course such the journeys she wished she could embark upon could only be pursued in her mind.
Abby's eyes drifted from her fathers face, as he slowly went into a senseless state, to the window where the sun peaked through the curtains ever so slightly. Pulling them back a tiny bit the peered through it with a longing gaze that was unmovable. Her trance was only broken when she heard the stagnant snores her father produced. It left her extremely irritated when she had to listen to it.
Running off in her stockings and lifting her heavy skirts Abigail ran down to her stack of books looking for the perfect one. She one she pulled out was quite literally falling apart and the handwriting in it was obscured by water, but she would still attempt for the first time to decipher the words.
Grabbing her boots she ran out the door stopping only to slowly shut the door behind her, careful that its sound would not be heard by her father, even though she knew that he was in a deep sleep and wouldn't be woken by such a distant and light sound.
Abigail wasn't sure of where she was headed, and that was all part of this small journey. It came as a surprise to her that her feet lead her through the trees. Abby felt so taken aback by the difficulty she had manuevaring through the seemingly endless barricade of greenery until finally she noticed a road. Abby immediately recognized the familiar path as the one through Sherwood and only then did she realize how far she had traveled. Her gaze immediately switched itself from the road to her dress. It's dull yellow fabric was dusty at the end of the long skirt and the white fabric that resided around the neck was askew and now verging on tan. Abby frowned at the thought of this, but knew it was only a minor setback.
Abigail moved forward onto the road as she released her hair from the tight bun since it was falling out anyway and she liked the feeling of her hair down. Abby smiled and closed her eyes as she let the sun beat down on her and fill her with that warm sensation that she loved so much. Already happier emotions sweeped over her.
Just as quickly they were gone. Her head spun around in panic as she thought she heard someone in the trees and saw no one. Again Abby thought she heard a small rustling, but as soon as she turned to look there was absolutely nothing. She twirled around in her dress, convinced that someone was watching her. In her mind she reasoned with herself that she was imagining things or that it was just some silly little animal.
"Hello?"Abigail called out in worry as she imagined all the terrible things that resided in forest. Outlaws were most worrisome to her, seeing as as a child her family had been robbed multiple times. Her heartbeat quickened with every passing moment that seemed to drag on forever.
