"Many times I contemplated how it would be when I will become the lady. But you see, I can only become the lady upon my father's death and the marriage of myself to someone of high status. But few men are noble and truely care for the people of whom they rule. I will be smuthered by this opression and forced to entertain guests with voluptuious clothes and enough food to fill all my people and so much will go to the pigs. It will never be me. That's why with James it seemed so perfect. The land of Leicestershire would have been protected and cared for. But that hope is long gone."
"You say many women? Should I question the purpose of these women with a band of ruthless outlawed men?" She cocked her eyebrow and laughed, teasingly.

Again, Mary's words caused Robin to laugh heartily.
"Nothing so sinister, Mary, I assure you. They are all there for they need to be, and for the things they bring to our gang. Well, perhaps Marian is there, now, for a slightly more selfish reason on my part. I confess it brings me comfort having her close. Though I am not so sure how much longer she will be able to stay. She knows, as I do, though I hate to admit it, her being at the castle allows us to find out much we would never know otherwise."

"So the stories of your love, is true? Marion." She chuckled, giving Robin a wink and elbowing him in the side.
"I am frequently welcomed into the castle, to keep on good terms with my father I suppose. If ever I come across information that could prove useful, how do I relay this to you. I will not sit by and watch people starve." It seemed like they were nearing the town anytime now. Which made Mary sad, she had enjoyed her talk with Robin, and would face whatever punishment Matron had for her.

Robin grabbed her arm after she elbowed him. "It seems you enjoy wounding me, Mary. Stories? There are stories?"
Robin looked slightly concerned by this. If stories existed of he and Marian, it could bring harm to her. And yet, his ego won out.
"What sort of stories?"
When she spoke of helping, Robin shook his head. "No Mary. I would not have you risk yourself. You can do what you can to help, but not put yourself at risk. Not to help me, I will not allow it."
The closer they got to town, the more Robin enjoyed her company. She had a wit, it seemed, to rival his own.

"Then I shall be sneaky Robin Hood. They will never know it is I. Perhaps Rowan Hood could make an appearance. And draw attention from you so you can help someone with out notice. I do want to help in my own way, Robin." Her bottom lip quivered slightly. "You said it yourself to not get discouraged and cease my aid to the poor. I yearn to help them. So let me help you."
"Stories that say there is a young maiden who has captured the heart of the hooded man, since before he returned from the holy war. But who, they do not know. I've heard young girl's wish they were her. But," Mary laughed mischievously with a twinkle in her eyes. "If only they knew what he looked like! Oh! they'd never think that again." She winked at him, gesting with him. It was far from what she thought, so far away in fact.

"Tell me, Mary. Have you heard of the Nightwatchman? For your Rowan...Wood, was it?" Robin paused, smirking, deliberately getting the name wrong, "...Sounds remarkably similar. There will be the Nightwatchman, you, and then my gang and I. I do not mean to belittle your efforts but I worry, for soon the night will be overrun with masked heroes." He kept his tone light, but in truth Robin thought her efforts would be better used as Mary, not as this Rowan Hood character.
Robin smiled gently at the stories. "I will tell you a secret, Mary. It was long before the Holy Land that she stole my heart. Long before."
He laughed, placing a hand to his chest. "Again you wound me, my lady! That is several times in one day. I fear for my bruised ego."

"Hood not 'Wood'" Margaret replied, quickly correcting Robin's intentional mistake, laughing at him and looking away. "You mean then to deprive me of my air? Then I will tell you I will not, but turn and do it any way. My legendary hero friend." Mary rubbed her face, frustrated with his intention to thrawt her help.
"I say though Robin, if she too has felt for you since before the Holy Land, did she lose her sight at a young age before she could have seen you?" She feared she may sound to cruel and she ended her sentece with a grin, and she lightly patted Robin's back. "Not to boost up your ego too much, I only make jest. There is not true truth to my words. I do not mean to be to harsh."
She laughed at him again, he played hurt so well. It made her grin and light up with joy. Not in his hurt, but in finding someone who got her wit. "I do not mean to hurt your ego Robin, but I could not help bumping in to it. I can see it all the way from Leicestershire after all." She gave a devious smile. "I have heard it good to injure egos now and again. For if you don't, they may take over the whole world!" Mary watched a bird fly by, a robin none the less.
"Then you must keep me around to bruise your ego, everyone does need it."

Robin laughed. "Of course. Hood, not Wood. I knew that. Mary, I do not wish to suggest that you give up your fight, I can no more easily do that then stop the sun from rising, I am sure. I just worry, is all. I would not see anyone else hurt."
Robin gave a sad nod when she patted his back, barely holding in his grin. "It is true, you have it correct. Perhaps I should start wearing a sack over my head, with holes for my eyes?"
Robin raised a brow. "Only from Leicestershire? Truly? Much room for growth, then."
Seeing her eyes follow the bird as it flew past, Robin gave a self deprecating laugh. "Now, there is a mighty symbol to be named after. A small bird. And the sheriff keeps them in cages."

"Oh, do us all the favor!" She teased back, she rolled her eyes. Seeing the grin wanting to come to his lips. "Or you could forget the breathing holes." She turned and grinned at him, proud of herself.
She watched the bird fly by, hearing his comment she nodded. "He breaks their necks. Don't ever let him break your neck or clip your wings Robin. One day he will lose. I will swear by it." She sighed, thinking of how wrong the world was turning. "If only the Lionheart would return, and put the Prince in his place. God, Robin why does it seem like good is losing so far more than the bad?"

"Oh I see how it is! Your true nature revealed, Mary. Very devious indeed."
At her words regarding the sheriff, Robin laughed. "I think he has tried more times than he can count. He finds the task something of a challenge."
His eyes turning serious, Robin responded to her next words. "Whilst ever we can speak of that good, Mary, then that proves it exists. I swear to you, King Richard will return, and until that day comes, I will not stop fighting. And no man who longs for the freedom of days past will give up the fight so easily. Do not despair, Mary."

Mary grinned proudly. She made to fists, before laughing and dropping her fists. "I'm devious and I know how to fight." She continued to chuckle, it felt good to be free and unladylike. "It's nice to be like this. As soon as I set foor in Merton and see my Matron, it will be No ma'am, yes ma'am, thank you ma'am, right this instant ma'am. And I am certaintly not looking foward to that."
"When my first actions became known to my father he had an intention to send me to Prince John's castle as an advocate to our name. And a mistress to the prince. I had plans that if it were to follow through to that, that I would kill the prince. Even if it meant my life." Mary mused, "I fear we are getting too near to Merton, I do dread the end of our walk."

Robin laughed at her raised fists. "I don't think anyone could doubt your strength."
At her words about the Prince, Robin stopped abruptly, turning to face her. "Mary, whilst ever the King is gone, Prince John, sinister as he is, shall be all that stops this country from dissolving into civil war. No matter how evil, we need a leader. Killing him is not the answer. Killing is not the answer. It solves nothing."
Smiling at her words, Robin silently agreed. "Perhaps you will have to find another excuse to visit Nottingham soon. It is very easy to become lost in the woods, after all."

"I do not think I could kill. I could speak of it all I wish, but to have that ability to take the life of some one.." She shudders at the thought. "I could never."
He stops and she stops too, "I know, it is very easy. One wrong turn. The Matron will wonder why I make a habit of it." She rolls her eyes. And mocks a gasp of horror. "But if I willingly get lost to see you, it would so aid to your ego taking over the whole of Britain." She brings her hand to her chin, thinking over this dilemma with a twinkle in her eyes. "I suppose I shall take this risk, it is after all only Britain."

Grimacing, Robin agreed. "It is not a skill to be proud of, Mary. I know that all too well. Never go seeking death, for then it will always find you forever after."
Her words made him laugh, yet again. "Oh well thankyou very much. How nice of you that you might risk all of Britain to see this poor, dirty outlaw. You are far too kind. If she ever became suspicious, you might simply tell her a rather wicked, ridiculously handsome and oh so charming outlaw had taken you hostage." Robin finished that statement with a wink in her direction.

"I know death first hand. My mother died of being poisoned when I was young. I was by her bedside when the poison took her. With James, my father forbid me to see him hung. They took him out of our castle with a sack over his head and hung him. After he hung my father had the gaurds toss his body to the starving dogs. Death is brutal. But I suppose all people have it ingrained into them, the ability to kill?"
"Ridicoulously handsome and charming outlaw? Shall you introduce me to him sometime? He sounds wonderful." She smirked and winked back at him.
She could see Merton below where they stood, and she felt her heart drop."Do I really have to go back. Maybe the outlaws took my hostage and are never letting me go back? Hmm? Sounds like a plan?" She knew Robin would only laugh at her and say no, she knew it would never happen like that. She had to go through with her duty as a Lady to one day help the other people. "I should hope to see you soon."
