Mud stuck to the soles of Luke’s old and worn boots as he squelched through the mud that covered the floor of the outer Sherwood Forest. It had been raining all day, covering Nottingham with much heavy liquid, and it didn’t look like it would be relenting anytime soon at all. That was the annoying thing about living in England however, and that was that it always rained whenever people disliked it most. He quite wanted a pleasant day that day, wondering around the country, but the pleasantness had been stripped from it once the rain started pouring down. He was used to rain of course, but that didn’t mean he liked it at all. Supposedly, it is rather nice listening to it when indoors, but outside all it was, was wet and cold.
He’d started walking around when there was just a light drizzle, and so had not bothered taking his cloak with him in the hope that the rain would just settle down in the end but he couldn’t be more wrong, and he was very sorry for it indeed. His tatty clothes were soaked, sticking clumsily to his kin and his hair clung furiously to his head, his fringe all askew. Most people would say he looked akin to a drenched puppy, but to him he just looked a fool. It would serve him right now if he got a cold, and knowing his look he most likely would get just that. Colds never suited him well either, being as he liked venturing and exploring outside. Being cooped up in bed just irritated him entirely.
The rain get decidedly worse all of a sudden, Luke rushed to shelter underneath a large oak tree, which stopped some of the rain but he was still getting slightly wet. Slumping down on a tree, he looked out at the grey and dismal sky which dominated the entire landscape. He wondered whether other people would be so stupid as to walk out in such weather, as he would rather like company, and especially the type of company that resided in the forest. He doubted even they would venture out in weather like this however, even if they were used to the weather. Although, he could have sworn that he heard the soft sound of another pair of feet squelching in the distance for a moment.
