"Why do you not want to?" she asked quietly.
She found her hand automatically going to his hair, running through it slowly. He was acting like a child who did not want to be seperared from his mother. But she knew she would not leave him.

"I don't know," he said the words as quietly and with as much nonchalance as he could manage, his arm sliding across her waist. All the burning heat had left him and he found himself cold.
He was really starting to get frustrated at his inability to hold a thought in his head, but was having enough trouble keeping focus on where he was and who he was with. "I'm cold, Marian."

Marian did not want to push the subject anymore, not whilst he was this ill. Instead, she kept her fingers running through his hair. When he complained of feeling cold, she reached down to grab the blankets, wrapping them tightly around him. After all, she had no need, she was comfortably warm.
"Come here," she whispered, wrapping her arms around him tightly.

Robin didn't resist her hold. He was too sick and too cold to care that he was being so weak. He pressed himself closer to her side, even as he thought she shouldn't stay. Which he knew made absolutely no sense, but couldn't stop the thought. "You don't have to stay."
Once the others got back, he knew he didn't want to be in this position anyway. It was one thing for Marian to see him so vulnerable, but he did not want the others to see it. "How long have they been gone?" He had no concept of the length of time it had been. For all he knew they could be back any moment.

She kissed his forehead, trying to comfort him the best she could. She ran her hands up and down his arms, an attempt to warm him up.
"I want to stay, Robin."
Marian knew the gang had a lot of drop offs today, and was not surprised they had arrived back yet. They would be a while longer, if she was right in what she thought.
"About an hour or two."

He lifted his head to look at her, bewildered. "Hours..." It felt like only minutes that he had been laying there. "They probably need help."
His head fell back to her shoulder. Robin thought about what they had been discussing, and remembered Marian asking him what was wrong. What had he said? "What was I...before, what was I..." He really hoped he hadn't said anything he would regret.
He shivered, practically wrapping himself around her to try and get warm. "Are you cold, Marian? It's cold."

"If they needed help we would have found out by now."
She smiled when he relaxed back into her hold, glad he was not pushing her away as much as he was earlier.
"What were you what?" she asked with a small smile.
She noticed the shiver again, and her arms tightened against him. He was curling up against her as much as he could.
"I'm fine."

"What if something is wrong, and they can't tell us?"
He frowned when she kept both arms wrapped around him, missing her hand in his hair. "I don't know," he sighed, "I'm so confused." He had enough sense to know that he wasn't making any sense, but did not know how to fix it.
"If you're fine, why are you in bed?" That, he thought, made no sense at all.

"They can take care of themselves, Robin."
She laughed a little when he said he was confused, knowing the feeling very well. She was still confused as to what had happened but was not going to say anything.
"Because you wanted me to stay. And I want to keep you warm. Holding you is a good way."

"No they can't." Strictly speaking that wasn't true, but he was responsible for them. Anything that happened to them was on his shoulders.
He laughed when she did, moving his head back enough to look at her. "Don't laugh, it's not funny."
"They should be back by now." Now that the thought was in his head, he couldn't get it to go away. "Much has probably done something foolish, and I'm not there to stop him." He rolled on to his back, looking up at the canopy above them. "You know, I feel fine Marian. I should really go and make sure they're okay."

"Yes they can, Robin."
She grinned when he laughed, looking at him when his head moved to allow him to look at her. She was glad he seemed to be feeling a little better.
"It is funny."
Marian sighed when he rolled onto his back, saying how much he should get going. Did she have to tie him down.
"What can I do to persuade you that you need to stay in bed?"

"No they can't. They always get into trouble when I am not there."
He sat up, looking over at her. "It isn't funny, Marian. You shouldn't laugh at other people's misfortune. It's not nice." His tone was light, though in truth he was incredibly embarrassed about what had happened. Not that he knew exactly what that was.
He pressed the heel of his palm to his forehead, closing his eyes until the sudden dizzyness passed. Moving over her legs, which were in his way, he sat on the edge of the bunk. "You can't do anything. My mind is made up. Laying down was just making it worse. I can think better when I am up."

"And they get into trouble when you are there."
Marian laughed a little, leaning forward to kiss his forehead. She knew he was only joking, so she might as well go along with it. When he moved to get off the bed, she scowled at him. Well if he wanted to get worse, or take longer to heal, then very well.
She pushed herself from the bed, picking up the bowl and cloth. Standing, she walked over to where she was standing earlier, turning her back to him. Why could he not just rest for a day?

Robin pushed to his feet and almost stumbled forward, taking hold of the wooden beam above his head to steady himself as his vision blurred slightly.
He ignored Marian when she walked away in a huff. If she wanted to be stubborn she could go ahead. He was fine. He just needed to get used to being vertical again. Apparently he had been lying down longer than he thought.
He took a few wobbly steps forward before his legs decided to rebel and he stumbled forward, his hands grabbing the edge of the low bench Much used for cooking, white knuckled.

Marian saw him fall out the corner of her eye and part of her wanted to rush to his side. But if he wanted to be stubborn and not accept he needed to stay in bed, then she was not going to help him. Not until he admited it.
"Well now your better, there's some food left from breakfast this morning."
She kept her eyes away from him, smirking. Well if he said he was better, then he could eat.
