A cloaked figured crept through the dark village of Locksley her light foot steps inaudible in the silent night. A dark rain cloud had passed over the Nottingham sky blanketing the sky and covering the moon and stars. It had not yet begun to rain but the large cloud above was set to let loose its load any moment. Anya prayed that she would reach the Davis household before she was drenched in thick night rain and the feeble loaf of bread in her hands went soggy. Earlier that day she had caught a glimpse of Anabelle’s father hobbling through Locksley town a thin shadow of a man he had once been. As soon as the grim sight of a once radiant and healthy man now reduced to skin and bones had made her sick and Anya had rushed off back to camp to grab what ever food she could find.
The food shortage had reduced the outlaw’s food storage to nothing and all Anya had been able to get was one measly loaf of bread. She had taken it with out consulting Robin or the other outlaws. There was no time!
Just as Anya dashed through the rickety old gate and up to the Davis door the rain began to spit and then pore down in buckets. The sound of rain hitting the thatch village roofs filled Locksley with its low thuds and barely visible in the night it could be seen bouncing of the ground in large droplets. Anya shivered under her cloak and clutched the bread close trying to shield it from the moisture. Hurriedly she knocked on the door twice and waited hopping from one foot to the other to keep warm. This was meant to be April but the cold chill in the air made it feel as though it was still December.
“Come on Annie,” Anya hissed under her breath.
Impatiently Anya knocked again this time with more force. Perhaps she was too late? It was a thought that sent a chill run down her back. She couldn’t be too late!...But what if she was? What would Annabelle and her sister do then with out a man in the house?

Anabelle sat by her fathers side, he was having trouble speaking and had little energy for anything but keeping his sickly eyes open. Anabelle knew this could not possibly turn out well, though she did not want to think terrible thoughts. She pulled the thin cover over his shoulder to keep him warm. He was shivering but trying to hide as he hated having his children worry about him.
Her sister was sitting on a small stool at the end of the bed, not really knowing what to do. She was extremely scared and upset. Lucy was about 9 years old and was quite intelligent for her age, she also knew that her father was in a bad way and may not survive.
Anabelle jumped. She heard a knock on the door and ignored it. Hearing it again she shouted to Lucy.
" Lucy, tell whomever it is they should come back later, we are too busy for visits right now"
Anabelle was not sure how much longer her father could last without food.
"In fact Lucy, you must find food. Anthing. Father needs it."
Lucy ran over to the door and slowly opened it slightly, peering out she noticed it was Anya and her eyes widened> She grabbed Anyas arm and pulled her into the house.
"It's Anya!" said Lucy
Anabelle jumped up onto her feet and rushed over to give Anya a hug. She was happy to see her friend, she did not really know how to help her father and Anya lived in the forest, surely she knew something about how to survive.

Will had been noticing Anya all day. That is, for Anya, she seemed to be acting vary strange. Normally she was somewhat friendly and straightforward. He noticed today that she seemed to be more defensive, almost as if she was worried that someone was watching her. Her eyes seemed to dart this way and that, seeming to be worried that someone might be watching her. Will found her demeanor and activity to be suspicious enough to warrant further observation. The first thing that he noticed, due to the fact of their proximity, was the fact that she kept getting closer to place that they kept their supplies.
Finally she reached their supplies, and after looking left and right, he noticed she reached out and snatched a small loaf of breaf. Will surmised that she was not stealing it for herself, since they had just eaten, but for someone else. Will was pretty sure that she had not asked Robin, or anyone else for that matter, whether she could take some food or not. They did not really have that much, so there was not much to choose rom.
Within a few minutes he noticed that she had put on her cloak, and once she had looked furtively in several directions, and obviously thinking herself unnoticed, she stole out of camp. Will through on his darkest cloak and followed at a safe distance. Will had much practice operating and traveling in silent mode in the forest. He noticed that she stopped evryfew minutes, probably to check whether she was being followed. Will wasn't as concerned as she was, obviously, but since he didn't want to be surprised either, occasionally he stopped and did the same thing.
Within a few minutes it was obvious where she was heading .... Locksley. But who in the village would she be taking such a meager store of food to. It must have been someone who was quite desperate, in one way or another. Within a few minutes it was obvious where she was heading ..... she was knocking on Annabelle's door. Eventually here knocking was answered, not by Annabelle, but by young Lucy. Will decided to move inas close as possible to see if he could discover what the situation was without disturbing them directly, if he could.

Anya smiled weakly as she saw the bright yet sad face of Lucy Davis. It was wrong for such a young person to have to deal with so much. Anya could remember when Lucy had been born and Annabelle had boasted to everyone in the village that she was the best looking baby that had ever been born. Anya had been 9 at the time and though she detested children she had to admit that Lucy had been an adorable little squirt. Now Lucy was 10 years old and grown in to quite a little lady one who had to deal with troubles beyond her years. What had happened to her childhood or Anya's?
“I brought food. It not much…well really its nothing at all our store is as empty as the next,” Anya kept her eyes away from Annabell's father how could she look at him when he was in this straight. It felt wrong and uncomfortable. Instead she kept here yes fixed on Annabelle's pale face and hugged her back as she came rushing over. “ I'm sorry I could not get here sooner. You know what I'm like, got lost a good dozen times just on my way through the forest.”
Anya said in a low mumble trying her best to lighten the grim atmosphere in the room. As soon as she had entered the darkly lit room she had felt something heavy baring down upon her chest. Suddenly she remembered she had not yet handed over the small loaf of bread and pulled it out from beneath her cloak. The loaf was batted from Anya's travil and was not the softest of breads but it was still food.
“Here,” Anya whispered handing Annabelle the bread still keeping her eyes of Annabelle's father. Anya with her eyes down walked to the fire and held a long thin piece of wood in to its mids until it caught alight. She then walked over to Lucy and handed her the torch. “Lucy, fetch some water… Please.”

Will slowly, but carefully, crept up to the home that he was somewhat familiar with. It had only been a matter of weeks since he had been here helping her father with some heavy lifting. Something had seemed odd to him at the time. Will had not been able to put his finger on it, but Annabelle's father had seemed to have been somewhat thinner than the last time he had seen him, and had not seemed to be as strong and robust as he had remembered.
Finally, Will had gotten within a few feet of the house. He had done it quite noiselessly, and was quite proud of himself in completing this small accomplishment. He had hoped to find at least one partially-open window to hear some of the conversation that was going on on the inside. However, he wasn't so fortunate .... there were no open windows. He then went around to the front of the house and wondered whether he should go the direct route and simply knock on the front door.
While he was perplexing himself over the question, the front door suddenly burst opened, and young girl burst out, whose eyes were cast down while carrying a large bucket. Since she wasn't looking up she nearly collided with him. Despite avoiding the collision he still ended up with his rear end on the ground, looking up to the girl and asking, "Where is such a little girl going with such a big bucket this time of the day?," he said with an embarassed smile.

Anabelle crouched back down by her fathers side, he was growing paler by the minute and weaker too. He had not really taken notice of Anya who had turned up. He could hear people talking but it was all fuzzy to him, as was his vision. He attempted a smile at Anabelle who he knew was the blurry image sitting close to him.
"I am ever so grateful to you Anya, I know how much you must be struggling also in the forest. Father needs all the help he can get, he can barely stay awake."
She looked to the door as Lucy ran out in a hurry to get water. She dropped her head in sadness, but held in the tears that so badly wanted to leave her watering eyes. She lifted her head up to look at Anya, she had so much see wanted to say but no words could leave her mouth. She was in too much sadness to speak, as she knew her father was soon to be leaving her.
Lucy ran about in fear of being too late with the water for her father. She reached the well and filled her bucket up to the rim. It was extremely heavy for her so she wrapped her arms around it. Her eyes were on the spilling bucket of water, so she was not looking were she was going and ran into Will. She spilled some water onto his feet.
"I am sorry, I....I need to go......"
She ran into her house not answering his question.

Will shook his head to clear it after being knocked off his feet. He had ended up in this position mainly because he had been surprised by the girl's sudden appearance. Although she was quite a bit smaller than he was she had had the advantage of momentum, which in this case had been more than enough. She had taken her bucket of water back inside the house before he could get any kind of answer to his question.
The question was what he should do now. He assumed that once she got inside she would tell Anna and whoever else was there about the man outside. Given the dark conditions he did not even know how good a look she had gotten of him ... if she had recognized him. He quickly came to the conclusion that his best chance to get away without being noticed was right then.
However, he also understood that he had a duty to the rest of the gang of outlaws to find out what was going on, especially since Anya had not appeared so secretive about the whole thing. So Will proceeded to get up off the ground and he approached the front door once more.
