Anabelle was excited for her new friend to arrive for his first day of working with her father. She was happy that she could help him and maybe her father could actually learn to appreciate the help as he really did need it. She sat on a bench as her father began to lift some wood from the ground, he did not want to wait for Luke, he just wanted to get on with his job. Anabelle smiled at her father who gave a small wink back and carried on.
"Thank you father, you are a very kind man."
She stood up and looked about through the village, not seeing Luke anywhere she sighed and sat back down, she had woken up very early this morning as the birds had been singing extremely loudly and she woke up and could not get back to sleep. Her eyes were droopy but she was sure it was going to be a lovely day.
"Father I would be happy if you would try and make conversation with him, I am sure he will try also..."
"Ana, I am here to work. Not to entertain the boy."
"Please father....."
He sighed and shrugged his shoulders and then Anabelle shot up and rushed over to him with her arms open ready to give him a huge hug. She gave him a little kiss on the cheek, whiwh he seemed to not like all that much. She let go of him then lent over to pick up some wood.
"I think you will like him, he is a sweet boy, not all annoying like quite allot of them here"
She stared at her father as he completely ignored her, he was a very hardworking man, and did not like to be disturbed but when it was his own daughter he just let her talk and he just ignored it most of the time.

Will was on a double-mission this today. First he had dropped off food and money at various points across Nottingham. He had tried to get it done early during the market day so that he would have time to harvest some small beech fronds to repair a few parts of the roof of the Sherwood Forest encampment that had been damaged during the last heavy rain. It just so happened that one of t he prime areas for him to search was Locksley village.
He always liked to check in on the village, whenever he could, especially since he thought of it and its people still as his home. He had not quite found what he was searching for, but before he moved on he thought he would make one last check on the village. When he poked his head around the corner he saw a man working and a pretty young lady, sitting on a bench, watching the man work. He recognized her immediately. "Yoho, supervising your father's work, eh, Miss Annabelle," he said with the slightest of smiles as he leaned on his axe for support. He waited to see what her reaction was, positive or negative, since he expected his sudden appearance would be a surprise.

Anabelle waited for Luke, quickly getting rather impatient and began to twiddle her fingers. She was ready to jump up and start helping her father instead as she noticed he was struggling. He had expected the help and it had not turned up.
She placed her hands on the bench and pushed herself up. She heard a familiar voice nearby and slowly turned her head hoping it was who she thought it was. When her head arrived in the direction of the voice, she immediately grinned. She had not seen Will Scarlett in such a long time, and missed him dearly, although she had made friends with his brother, and they were rather alike.
"Oh, hello"
Anabelle tried to act calm but was far too excited and ran up to him giving him a giant hug. Afterwards she felt awkward and backed off a bit, but carried on talking showing her great excitement.
"Will, last time you were here you said you would not leave it so long to visit me. I a most sure that it has been longer than last time"

She did have the look of someone who was waiting for someone who was overdue. He also thought tat maybe her mind was somewhere else since it took her a couple of seconds for her to respond.
"Oh, hello"
Even though it seemed to be a delayed reaction to his voice, by the time that her head hhad swung around in his direction there was a big smile plastered across it. She almost seemed to launch herself across the space between them, almost so that Will was inclined to take a defensive stance as she rushed across the short expanse of open ground. When she arrived she gave him the biggest hug he had received in years, but, he thought to himself, he wasn't a person commonly onthe receiving end of too many.
"Will, last time you were here you said you would not leave it so long to visit me. I am most sure that it has been longer than the last time."
"Well .... I'm not in the habit in noting ther amount of time that passes behind hugs .... we are often more busy dodging the Sheriff's guards. And I would have hated to have experienced the kind of greeting you would have given me if I hadn't displeased you so. You seemed to be waiting for someone, who was not me. Could it have been someone to help your father, or were you needing an escort somewhere?," he asked quizzically.

" Oh I am sorry, I was waiting for somebody, yes. In fact, I was waiting for your brother Luke. When was the last time you saw him? He was supposed to be helping my father with work, but I suppose he has found something more exciting to do"
Anabelle knew that Luke has been rather lonely for quite some time since Will had left, and his father had passed away. Will obviously was very busy with helping the poor and stealing from the rich, but surely he could take 5 minutes to visit his younger brother.
She looked Will with her head tilted slightly, she was remembering the times when they were very young, and they used to run around playing with small wooden swords. She really enjoyed that and missed having Will around to talk to, he always seemed to make her happy, which Luke also somehow managed to do. They were very alike.
"....or were you needing an escort somewhere?,"
She laughed and turned away to look at her father who was still busily working, not noticing that Will had turned up. She would have liked to go on a walk and have a nice long conversation with Will, but she felt terribly bad for her father and wanted to stay and help.
"Not, today.... Though, if I ever need an escort I shall call for you. "

Will had given up keeping an eye on Luke for some time. If he was unwilling to stay back in Scarborough there was little that he could do to keep him safe and out of trouble. Will had his hands full most of the time with his responsibilities with the gang and their various exploits to keep up with his brother's movements. He was the only remaining member of his immediate family left alive, but he wasn't about to be his brother's keeper.
"I'm afraid that he has never let me in on where he stays. Since he hasn't I've always assumed that he wanted that to remain his business. I haven't seen him in weeks. We cross oaths every now and then, so I expect to see him soon." At her next words Will did not look very happy.
"When you make a commitment you should keep it. Is there anything I can do. Most of my business today is not pressing and I would be happy to help out for an hour or so, if you'll let me. What needs to be done?," he smiled broadly. It was almost like it was when they were young, he thought to himself. "Aww .... you know it would be an honor to escort you anywhere," he said with the slightest of blushes.

Anabelle had always felt as though Luke had kept himself to himself around her, and not really told her anything too personal. All she really knew is how much he monged to join Will in the forest. Anabelle did not want to be mean to Luke but she knew that this would be quite difficult for Luke, he is very young and still needs allot more experience with a sword.
"From what i know, Luke has been moving allot, and I suppose it may be hard to find him. We usually arrange a time and place, but this time it did not work"
Anabelle was very happy to hear Will's offer to help, she did not want her father being too tired after a long day of work. She smiled, stood up and held her hand out to shake his. The work was not hard but fot her father it was tiring, lifting heavy wood and other things that drained his energy.
"Well, if you can, i am sure my father could use some help with lifting some of the heavier pieces of wood. I do not think his back could take it."
She rolled up her sleeves a bit and ran over to her father. She intended to help. It was not everyday that Will came to visit, so she thought she might as well try and make the hour or so he was here fun. She turned back to Will and shouted over to him.
"Well, come on!"

Will knew that Luke wanted to be in the Forest in the worst way. Will knew he would be uncomfortable with him out there .... just another person for him to take special care to watch over since he was not ready for it. Will knew he had a fighter's heart, but not a fighter's ability, yet. Will did wonder if he pestered Anabelle about those kinds of desires though.
"That doesn't surprise me. I think he thinks of himself as an outlaw, so he thinks he has to be on the move, especially since he does not have a house to call his own. I suppose he could move back into our old place fairly safely though. I am glad he stays in contact with you Anna. What I don't like is him not keeping his promise to be here, especially since its you and your father that it affects."
Will was glad to make the offer to Anna. He didn't want her to know it, but he had always had a soft place in his heart for her and her family. She tended to see the good i people and was generally trying to help those who were in need, which was a characteristic that he always appreciated in people. However, he preferred to show how he felt through what he did, and through words, which he was generally pretty frugal with.
"It would be my pleasure to do what I can. Why don't you rest for a bit sir, while I get some things done." Will took off his cloak, and his 2 hatchets, the 'big chopper' and the 'little chopper', and finally his loose-fitting shirt, and set off to work. He used the 'big chopper' to make two heft wedges from the some hard wood he found, and then used the 'little chopper', which he used for more detailed work to convert 3 pieces of scrap wood, once tied together, into a small sawhorse. "We'll use the wedges to get under the heavier pieces, and the sawhorse for leverage to lift them off the ground more easily. Ready, sir?"
