Will always thought better when he was working on something in his hands. This piece of wood was in the process of becoming a male deal. It would take some time, but it was actually the best way that Will had ever found to relax. It was something he could do when he was alone, or if he was in a crowd. He was so intent in his work he didn't hear Amelia approach from his back.
"Hey" Amelia said.
Will looked up with a smile, "and how's dinner coming .... I bet everybody will have an apetite, eh?"

"and how's dinner coming .... I bet everybody will have an apetite, eh?"
Amelia smiled at this. "That is usually the case" She said as she sat down next to Will.
She looked around at the people going about their own business.
"Do you wonder what your life would be like if you didn't become an outlaw?"

Will was to the point on the whittling where it was obvious from the general shape what it was going to be, a deer, and now he was working on the details. His long and dexterious, but deceptively strong fingers moved with great speed to his task. Amelia may have thought that she had sneaked up on him, but he was almost always aware of the changes that occurred around him.
After exchanging some small-talk about dinner they both started watching t he other life that was going on in Locksley.
"Do you wonder what your life would be like if you didn't become an outlaw?"
He sat and thought for a moment, temporarily taking a break from his whittling for a few moments, before going back to it and then responding. "Do I .... I guess its no and yes. I can't permit myself to think of such things when I'm on a mission or work for Robin. Its too distracting. At other times, when there are other things to distract me," he said taking a sidelong glance at her and smiling, "of course I do. I Would have lived a simple life assisting my father in the carpentry shop and the replacing him as the top carpenter in Locksley .... some dream, eh?"

Amelia looked at Will and smiled. "It's a very good dream."
She looked around at the villagers again.
"But the truth is I would give up all this to help take down the Sheriff" She said with a smile.

He had really never told anyone his dream. He knew one reason was that it was something that was very private, since it was associated with his dead father. Another reason of course was that on most days the realization of such a dream seemed so far away. Finally, he really did not have anyone to share it with anyway. He wasn't absolutely sure anybody would understand, but Amelia seemed to.
"But the truth is I would give up all this to help take down the Sheriff."
For a moment he was shocked by the statement, since it sounded like the kind of thing an outlaw would say. "That would require that you leave your family .... your mother behind. Here in the village you would stand a good chance, given your appearance, of having the pick of any young man in the village, and having a stable life, a family of your own. You would have to become an outlaw to take him down you know. You might have to work with some unsavory characters .... me, for instance," he smiled. "What kind of life would that be for you .... certainly not the one you deserve."

"You are not that unsavory. I trust you more then i have trusted anyone except my family in a long time" She said with a smile.

"Do not get me wrong i love my family but i do not feel i belong here" She said with a sigh "I want to be out there doing something about the problem"

She could not be serious, he thought to himself. He knew that life could be boring in the village, but did she have any idea what it was or might be like out there. He wondered. She actually could be the rare one who was equipped for it.
"You are not that unsavory. I trust you more then i have trusted anyone except my family in a long time."
He was both surprised ... and not .... by her answer. Will knew that she thought a lot of him. He just didn't have an idea that she thought that much of him. talk about putting someone up on a pedestal. It was a good thing that Will did not have that elevated a view of himself to begin with. But he did wonder how prepared she was for that sort of life.
"What type of weapons are you proficient with and how are your fighting skills. Doubtless better than mine I'd wager, knowing you. Do you want to take on the 'problem' alone or with a gang. Its not saying you can't do it alone, but has more challenges than in a group. It all depends on what you're prepared to do, and with who."

"I am quite good at Archery and swordsmanship. I can also fight with no weapons if i had to." She said as a smile crossed her lips. "I am not foolish enough to take them on alone. So i would have to say i would like to be with a group"
Amelia looked around again at the pain in the village. Every bone in her body was telling her she had to do something about it.

Will was quite impressed with her list and the quickness with which she responded. Obviously, she had been thinking about this for some time.
"So you are skilled with both weapons and in hand-to-hand combat, eh? It's good that you are looking at this in a logical manner. Working with a group, with each individual understanding their roles and their limitations works best I've found. Also, each individual can contribute to the planning aspect as well. Of course you would have to demonstrate your skills to me before I would take you to Robin, assuming our gang is the one that you want to work with, nad that you promise not to kill me in the process," he smiled.

"If you think you can handle me" Amelia laughed as she said this. She patted him on the knee and stood up. She walked away from him to the house and few minutes later she returned with a sword. "When ever you are ready"

"If you think you can handle me .... When ever you are ready"
She did have to pick the weapon that is not my forte, he thought to himself. "I was born ready. However, the sword is not my first choice of weapons. That would be the axe and the bow. So be a bit kind with the old man," he laughed.
He led her out into a small clearing, deciding the best way to evaluate her was to allow her to be the aggressor, and he just react to moves, and then, at a point of his own choosing, to become aggressive. However, the little that he knew about her, was that she would try to throw in some surprises to throw him off balance and turn the tide in her favor. That is, he expected her to be a bit sneaky.

"I doubt you are that old. You are probably younger then me" Amelia said with a smile as Will led her into a small clearing.
Amelia looked as Will prepared to defend her attacks. She swung the sword around before advancing. She didn't attack to aggressively because there was a chance she would hurt him.

"I doubt you are that old. You are probably younger then me."
The two of them stopped in the middle of the large clearing. Roe took up a defensive position as he had planned to. However, he sensed that Amelia might be holding back a bit, perhaps worried about injuring Will by accident. So Will quickly thought that he would have to change his tactics.
He quickly stepped to the inside, putting his sword between here and her body, before stepping back out and around. "Be not afraid, Amelia, I have fought the Sheriff and Sir Guy in close contact. So, I am well prepared for hot and heavy action with steel."

"Alright" She said as she swung her sword with all her strength at Will.
She was still a little scared that someone would get hurt but Will had reassured her a little.

Once he gave her the encouragement to go all out, he knew that she would respond. Purposefully, he went from one side to another, stretching her field of action. Once he had done that, the first time she swung her sword with all her might it was relatively easy to get her off balance, step inside, and bring his sword to her throat
"Good .... let's go again .... and remembera good opponent will not just look for weaknesses, they will turn your strengths against you as well .... ready!"
